As other posters have stated - This expectation of ‘they / them’ pronouns is nonsense. We are all linguistically socialised from babies to refer to males as he and females as her. This cannot be undone even if people try - so it sets up everyone to fail.

It is as natural as saying the sky is green.

I have been enjoying the divine Ms. Rowling tweeting a steady stream of positive, community minded posts supporting key workers etc. and without fail there being a beard or blue hair or anime avatar in the comments calling her a T**F.

It is heart warming to see that these posts are mere punctuation marks in an otherwise overwhelming positive response - not so easy to 'cancel' people now we have been reminded what an actual life and death issue is, and how it has absolutely nothing to do with validating yer pronouns...

What I don’t understand, genuinely don’t understand, is:

Sam Smith is a cunt.
Sam Smith is a man.

This is one of the few uk based forums (at least one I’m a member of) that allows uncensored language on it. One of the above statements is an opinion, the other one is a truth. One contains an offensive and insulting word and the other one does not. One of those statements from me is a lie and the other one isn’t (I don’t actually think SS is a cunt, I just used it for the point, I find him annoying with a shrill singing voice but that’s the extent of it).

Why is the aggressive, opinionated statement fine to stand on here but the non-aggressive, truthful statement considered a risk for deletion? What is it about this that makes it delete-worthy specifically compared to writing a post calling someone a cunt, just because I felt like it? Man, male, male-born, male-bodied, men.. these are not offensive words or insults, so it’s not even on the level of free speech, like calling someone specifically derogatory names like a ft or a nr or a p**i, just because someone has the ability to call someone those sorts of names, so they will.

It’s so disproportionate. On here, and in real life too.

Actually quite liked Sam’s music in an easy listening kind of way. Was in the O2 crowd a couple of years back when we all had to cheer and applaud for him for being a proud and out gay man or something similar. Fine. Seems weird in a short space of time that to call him the same thing is now misgendering. Very puzzling. I long ago stopped following as he seems to equate a pair of heels and a skirt with being a woman.
