Observer article today - Caitlin Jenner's son

I've just been reading this article on fathers in The Observer - the piece by Brandon Jenner is awful to read. I think it'll ring a few bells for anyone living with someone like that.

Caitlyn comes across as quite selfish from that article. That poor kid

An interesting read. Sad.

I hadn’t realised CJ’s transition had gone quite that far back. They sound extremely self centred. Sounds like it was confusing for the kids/wives. The pronouns are all over the place in the article too.

'Once he decided to go through with the transition, I was the first of her children she confided in. As soon as Dad said it herself, I was so happy for her.'

Blimey, that's some fucked up family dynamic.

You can't help but feel that the future generations aren't going to fare much better. They're all so obsessed with media and image that I can't see bringing up balanced kids features much on the radar.

Did Kris Jenner know he'd (correct pronouns for the time) started to transition then changed his mind before they got married?

@TinselAngel I don’t think so, but definitely became aware of his thinking into the marriage. It came as no surprise when he amounted his intentions

I think that Caitlyn Jenner just dumped the children from her first marriage for her step children. Very sad. She’s lucky her son has the kindness to have her in his life now, many people wouldn’t.

Maybe! Sounds to me like the son has done all of the work - out of his own emotional need.

My understanding, from watching an interview, was that Jenner had been cross dressing for many, many years.

God that's really sad. The part where CJ was racing with Brandon and Brody really stood out for me. I've never watched any of the programmes but what messed up families they seem to be.

In contrast Jeff Bridges comes across as a lovely father and grandfather.

Worse than Julian Lennon who’s dad publicly d’cked off and left him??? Most of the fathers featured here aren’t covering themselves but it seems that caitlins son is suffering from the same issue as the rest - lack of attention. Her son is saying their relationship was crap after Caitlin/Bruce met the wife and abandoned the old family for new.

I remember reading decades ago that Lloyd Bridges, Jeff and Beau's father who was quite successful in his own right in the film & TV industry, prioritised his family over work.

I wonder if (among other things) that's why Kris Jenner makes that dopey programme, cos it's deliberately light and fluffy.

If we dug a little deeper beneath the glamour and polish of Kris Jenner, as an individual, i bet there's actually a tender woman underneath.
If you keep those feelings at arm's length, they can't hurt you.

It was a really interesting article and very sad. Tezza that's an interesting point, it seemed that only Jeff Bridges and John Wayne made a conscious effort to be involved in their growing child's life.

With the other dads it seemed they struggled to connect until their children were older or if the child made the effort to become more involved first. I think with the Jenners the difference is that obviously the transgenderism adds futher complexity to the relationship.
