Free to access the paid for stuff in quarantine

Sorry to be depressing but....actually I can’t say what I’d like to say because I’d get banned.

So in a time of increased domestic tensions, increased risk of dv and limits of the ability of police forces, medical staff and vwg groups to respond, less regulation of porn? Which has, I think a proven link to relationship breakdowns?

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 16/03/2020 11:56

It's the comments about how amazing porn hub are and how philanthropic they are. NO they allow rape victims and child trafficking on their sites for goodness sake. They advocate hardcore porn which is known as harmful. I feel like giving up on humanity.

AutumnRose1 · 16/03/2020 12:43

“ I feel like giving up on humanity.”

Yes. It’s really grim.

What happened to that bill they were working on here, where you’d have to register to use porn or something?

I really think we could do with something like that. When you listen to Tim Berners Lee talking about controlling the web, there apparently are options but no one wants to use them.

I don’t pretend to know anything about Italy but if this happens here, I will be furious. Do they have a more pornified culture?

OP posts:
HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 16/03/2020 12:58

No one wants to bring in those measures as they'd lose half their customers. They could employ people to review content and ensure it is safe and not coerced but that would wipe out lots of revenue so they won't.

Not sure about the porn culture in Italy but I imagine they'd try that here too and everyone would fawn over how amazing they are. Urgh.

AutumnRose1 · 16/03/2020 13:00

“ No one wants to bring in those measures as they'd lose half their customers”

Politicians are that concerned about how much revenue comes in from porn giants?

So depressing.

OP posts:
OneEpisode · 16/03/2020 13:08

I read that as that pornhub don’t want to lose revenue. Hence the PR we are helping the poor Italians. I don’t know if they even pay any tax?

OneEpisode · 16/03/2020 13:11

I suspect there no tax going on. From wiki:
MindGeek operates under a complex structure of multiple companies in countries such as the British Virgin Islands, Canada, Curaçao, Cyprus, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mauritius, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Its structure has been described as mostly a way to avoid corporate tax by a de facto Canadian company;[ with billing companies in Ireland, subsidiaries in Curaçao and holding ones in Cyprus and Luxembourg, all countries that have been identified as tax havens or having lax tax regulations. Canada also has special tax treaties with Luxembourg, the legal headquarters of MindGeek, where a Canadian subsidiary is exempt from taxes paid on royalties to its Luxembourg parent.

OneEpisode · 16/03/2020 13:12

Google offered me lots of tax related porn. I did not know that was a thing.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 16/03/2020 13:21

I'm waiting for the porn apologists to drop by and tell us how Victorian and prissy we are, how altruist PH are being and that porn is actually better to teach kids about sex than sex Ed is. Seriously, happened on a thread last week, OP I think you may remember it Confused, sure I remember you also banging your head on a table at the drivel being spouted.

Premium content too, I dread to think what that covers.

AutumnRose1 · 16/03/2020 13:22

Oh no, I didn’t see that

Probably just as well!

OP posts:
tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 16/03/2020 13:29

Sorry thought I remembered your username. Probably from a similar thread, there are depressingly lots about.

AutumnRose1 · 16/03/2020 13:32

I also dread to think what’s on premium content.

There was definitely some kind of Bill about regulating porn and if it doesnt even generate tax, there’s no excuse for government not to do it.

Or we’ll have to figure out some way of making it socially unacceptable....

There are no depths to which abusive men and their handmaids will not stoop.

Twunk · 16/03/2020 13:40

One good thing about the lock down here in The Netherlands - they've had to shut the brothels.

Thelnebriati · 16/03/2020 13:48

@Twunk Do you work in a brothel?

AutumnRose1 · 16/03/2020 13:49

Oh I forgot about Netherlands and brothels.

I did love that scene in Killing Eve!

OP posts:
Twunk · 16/03/2020 13:54

Why do you ask Thelnebriati?

Thelnebriati · 16/03/2020 14:08

Because I've just been told to stay in lane, and my lane (fat middle aged CSA survivor trans widows) feels a bit niche.

I may be a bit annoyed. I may have had explanatory emails explaining why goady fuckers people who have had multiple deletions are still fucking posting and yet those who talk about safeguarding a lot are absent, iyswim.

Twunk · 16/03/2020 14:39

Oh I see! I understand - sorry I’ve been stuck in the house since Thursday so I’ve been posting more but I am a regular and definitely not a Goady Fucker.

No I don’t work in a brothel.

FloralBunting · 16/03/2020 14:47

Yay. You all have to stay in your homes to prevent the healthcare system overloading and people dying, so please, watch some abuse for free to make it up to you.

Perverts.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 16/03/2020 16:16

Waiting for the apologists to come and tell us that we should be grateful to PH as uimited porn means fewer men will now rape their wives during lockdown, or something. The idea that men rape women because they're horny and therefore more access to porn/prostitutes = less rape* is one I've heard way too many times.

  • less rape of nice MC women of course. They don't give a shit about the women actually in the porn or brothels.
Seventyone72seventy3 · 16/03/2020 16:18

Yes, saw this and posted my disgust on twitter. Upsetting that the majority seemed to think it was great.

aliasundercover · 16/03/2020 18:32

What happened to that bill they were working on here, where you’d have to register to use porn or something?

This could only work in a state like China, where the government controls all access to the internet. There is no way it could work with the open internet we have.
This was explained to the government over and over again, but Cameron decided to persist with it. Johnson might be an idiot, but he seems to have grasped this simple idea at least.

There was a thread on AIBU full of "women watch porn too" apologists
