I read today that the Victoria Derbyshire programme is to be cancelled.
I should probably lament the demise of a current affairs programme that puts a female journalist front and centre. However, VD's one sided pushing of the trans agenda, treatment of GC women (on the rare occasions they have been allowed to appear), and general woke BBC manner leaves me with complete shadenfreude.
Apparently, one of the reasons Director General, Tony Hall, axed the show is because viewers are "more male and older than you might think." VD tweeted "This COMPLETELY ignores the rest of our figures - last month interviews/stories from our TV prog were viewed 20 MILLION TIMES online - stories & ints that wouldn’t have been commissioned without our on-air programme. On our FB page three quarters of our viewers are women."
I'm not sure of the truth of either of those statements. However, VD if you're reading this, it's terrible when someone only tells one side of the story, isn't it? It's terrible to be no platformed. Terrible to lose your job in unfair circumstances.
Part of me secretly hopes a load of GC women responded to a viewers' survey identifying as men!
