FORTNITE Inappropriate female body shape

Shelley2865 · 10/03/2020 17:11

I saw this video about the body shape of the female characters in Fortnite, and it shocked me. They're so exaggerated. I think it's wrong that many young boys and girls are seeing these, and perhaps believing they're "hot", when actually they're uncomfortably exaggerated and setting a bad example

You're right but I suspect it'll be the same in the future if it remains mostly men designing computer games for mostly men.

june2007 · 10/03/2020 23:02

How about Fortnite inappropriate.

DioneTheDiabolist · 10/03/2020 23:07

Ah right, it's a Dove advertisement.Hmm

Wildthyme · 10/03/2020 23:21

This Dove ad manages to put down the thin models as well as the Fortnite characters/avatars.

Bluntness100 · 10/03/2020 23:26

I was expecting something all big booms and arse, these just are characters that are slim and fairly straight up and down. Not really seeing rhe big shock. I don’t think kids play fortnite to get sexual kicks. 🤷‍♀️

My DS’s avatar has got a bizarrely big bum compared to her waist. I’m told this makes her more agile in certain game situations.

Lalala205 · 11/03/2020 00:31

Ummm? They're generated avatars? I doubt many teens/young adults view them as being the 'norm/inspirational'? Would you feel happier if they had a character player of '46yrs, fairly overweight, menopausal, PCOS. Skill set includes; semi assisted forward rolls, excessive sweating, irrate behaviour towards children, body hair sprouting from previous unknown areas, being irrationally annoyed at things in the media that inform you 'this will change your life!'. It's a computer generated figure, it's doubtful they'll look to create one that's 2.5st overweight with additional bad knees and type 2 diabetes 🙄

bumpertobumper · 11/03/2020 00:36

The male body shape is stylised in a similar way

Lalala205 · 11/03/2020 00:54

Personlly I think Dove adverts are mostly a load of wank anyway. Ooh look here's someone overweight/disabled 'doing their thing' 🙄 Err, no, they're just an average person without the need for a £££ ad to inform the rest of the world that they're 'normal' to get everyone to think you're 'inclusive' and buy a face wash/deodorant 😕

HepzibahGreen · 11/03/2020 01:05

Um. They're cartoons..have you seen the Fortnite male skins? They're not exactly realistic. They have ones with half animal bodies, mad costumes, all sorts. Kids know they are avatars FFS.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 11/03/2020 01:36

Fortnite's a load of bollocks anyway.
As someone's pointed out already, the skins aren't exactly realistic to start with.
Ban the fkn game altogether if it was up to me, mine turn into little gits after playing.

Fgs credit people with some intelligence. They are so obviously stylised avatars.
