Don't read this BBC article on two de-transitioners if you're after a calming experience: www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-51806011

The ticking of all possible label boxes to avoid censure, the lack of questioning throughout, despite the fact that these two clearly have ended up questioning how they got to where they are.
Bingo players will be able to circle quite a lot of points ....

But I guess at least it's acknowledging this is possible and surely surely those reading this will have serious concerns ...?

That story makes me so sad, these were vulnerable young girls who remind me of myself and daughter so much. I can't believe that the sort of misogynistic crap that made me hate being a girl and desperately want to be a boy and made my dd scared to come out to her dgp as a lesbian led them to this path this is 2020 not the 1950s

I read this article earlier. What struck me was that both women or girls as they were at the time were desperate to avoid unwanted sexual attention of men. I’m so angry that the sexual aggressive male dominated society we live in makes young girls so scared that they want to mutilate their own bodies to escape it.

And another clear link to other self harming conditions like eating disorders
When will the world wake up to this Sad

It's a really good article and it's good that the two women now feel positive about their lives - they are lucky to have found each other.

What really stuck me was that they'd been in therapy and yet their feelings seemed to have been hardly explored. The way they describe their experiences entering puberty - surely their therapists should have examined all this?

I think these young woman sum up many of the arguments that GC women put forward for taking a more cautious approach.
Trans became the vehicle for their unhappiness. But with acceptance of themselves, comes detransition. Sadly with it, an unnecessary mastectomy and the long lasting effects of taking testosterone.
I think they are courageous and thoughtful to contribute to this article.

This is what really stood out to me.

I read this article and was surprised it was allowed to be published.

It was interesting that I saw something similarly worded to a post on here I read - that even if they had been given proper therapy before being medicalised, they 'wouldn't have listened'. I only really noticed it because I'd read a line similar to that before.

Do doctors really just go 'oh alright then, you're clearly not open to listening to me so I'll just give you what you want'? I would assume the answer is no, so what's all that about?
