I've not got time to write about this article;e but I wanted to draw it to everyone's attention.

Seems like light is finally being shone. I the fathers comments are particularly pertinent.

"I would've liked to have met someone to give me the words and find arguments to make her wait and think about it longer, but there was no-one," he reflects.

I met them both at the detransitioners event in MCR.
I had a really insightful chat with Nele, I’m grateful to them both for sharing their very personal stories.

(I’m a stepmum of a 13 year girl old who wants to be a boy)

DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG · 10/03/2020 08:44

Nele has a YouTube channel:

extract from article in OP

"Nele could see only two options - transition or suicide. She sought help from a transgender support organisation. They sent her to a therapist.

"When I arrived, I was like, 'Yeah, I think I might be trans.' And he directly used male pronouns for me. He said it was so clear I'm transgender - that he's never been as sure with anyone else."

Within three months, Nele was prescribed testosterone.

Ellie too became determined to access male hormones - in her case when she was just 16.

"I watched some YouTube videos of trans guys who take testosterone, and they go from this shy lesbian to a handsome guy who is super-popular. I liked thinking of myself having that possibility - it felt like I should have a male body." (continues)

The majority of the youtube presenters if searched "am I transgender" say, "if you're asking if you're transgender you probably are"

As mentioned both young women were amongst those at the Manchester event. I'm pretty sure one of them had also had a radical hysterectomy.......

The BBC trying be politically correct with its use of language I see ( " assigned at birth" etc)

DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG · 10/03/2020 11:08

It was two others who’d had a hysterectomy. The very quiet young woman with long dark hair and ‘Satan Herself’ who was sitting directly beside her.

Ellie and Nele both stopped at mastectomy. Thankfully.

Yes - the brave and stunning new world we are in. And we are bigots for wanting to protect our daughters.

Detransitioners are living proof that the practices surrounding “trans youth” need be questioned, yet their experiences are too often ignored.'

Then came the enthralling and emotional damning indictment of doctors’ negligence: the detransition panel.

It is worth noting the bravery that young women — all between the ages of 19 and 29 — exhibited as they recalled their most intimate surgeries and brutal insecurities. Later, on Twitter, Evans disclosed that, of the seven women on the panel, there were five mastectomies, two hysterectomies, two oophorectomies (the removal of ovaries), and 20 years of testosterone combined.

So, why have so many young women been compelled to undergo such brutal surgeries?

One detransitioner, who goes by the name “Satan Herself” on Twitter, said that transitioning was a way to evade lesbophobia and her “reality as a homosexual woman.” Living as a “transman” for five years, she had never even considered the possibility she harboured internalized homophobia, as she was so supportive of LGBT rights. Yet she knew no lesbians and was starved of representation of masculine women. She said she couldn’t envision growing up into an adult lesbian woman, and immersed herself in transgender theory, which seemed the ideal way to “fix herself.”

Another detransitioner, Ellie, said that, at 15 years old, she too couldn’t picture herself as a homosexual adult female, so began her lengthy four-year transition journey one year later, with a mastectomy.

Thomasin began identifying between “male and various non-binary identities” at 14 years old, only desisting from treatment in May. She said social media and the online world functioned as a kind of escape route, especially since she saw no lesbian positivity or representation online or in real life.

Nele, who identified as trans for two years, argued that people aren’t just “born transgender for a magical reason,” but that it is “put on you by society.” She claimed that the contemporary trans movement masquerades as progressive while “reinforcing gender stereotypes” — a position shared by Bell, who said accepting the concept of gender identity without criticism can legitimize “a form of caricatured gender stereotypes.” Bell feels the outcome of trans ideology is a “movement that actually acts against the support of lesbian and gay people.”

Many also explained that they had pre-existing body issues, some manifesting in life-threatening eating disorders, alongside gender dysphoria.

Despite almost dying from anorexia, “Satan Herself” said she never linked hating her female body to her eating disorder or gender dysphoria. She never connected the dots between her fear of living as a female and her fear of living at a normal weight, both of which caused her to be dismissive of her health.

“I often wonder how nobody realized that? No therapist I saw; no doctor I talked to about getting surgery; no one in my personal life,” she said to a tear-choked room. “I just wish someone would have been there to tell me not to get castrated at 21…

… Just what the hell are surgeons doing?” (continues)

Satan Herself is absolutely brilliant on twitter btw.

Funny, heartbreaking, insightful, wise.

That article just about covers everything women have been warning about. Children with co-morbidities seeking an answer in trans; girls reacting against the male gaze; children struggling with sexuality seeking to cover for this by becoming trans; children being judged for enjoying pastimes that are the traditional preserve of the opposite sex; parents and children railroaded into transitioning with little in the way of therapy; lies told about the effects of hormones being irreversible; trans not being the solution and suicidal feelings remain because it is not magic unicorn land as they are led to believe; not enough studies about detransitioning rates (because these have been shut down by, amongst others, the University of Bath, who now send in their expert to comment on this piece!).

Still, I am amazed that an article like this has appeared on the BBC, even if they do use all the PC terminology.

Weirdly, the saddest part for me is when Nele says she can no longer sing, and she used to love to sing.

AnotherNightWatering · 10/03/2020 12:34

(because these have been shut down by, amongst others, the University of Bath, who now send in their expert to comment on this piece!)
It was the University of Bath Spa that shut down the research by James Caspian. It is Dr Catherine Butler, a clinical psychologist at the University of Bath, who comments on the article.

DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG · 11/03/2020 11:29

interesting that thoughtful, gentle articles like this one attract more condemnation from transactivists than negative coverage about people like Aimee Challoner, Stephanie Hayden or Karen White do.

Detransitioners are worse for the ongoing reputation of ordinary trans people than paedophile apologists, petty criminals, serial litigants and even rapists are, apparently.

Someone on the transgender U.K. subreddit recently called Keira Bell a ‘scumbag’, as a response to an article on her upcoming judicial review regarding minors and informed consent in relation to GnRHa drugs.

The treatment of detransitioners is such a clear illustration of how cult like trans ideology is. Their biggest enemies are the ones who left.

If a doctor treating people with anorexia (who often have body dysphoria to some extent) aided and abetted the delusion and helped the anorexic to become even thinner
they would be struck off

why are the doctors who 'treat' those with gender dysphoria not held to the same standards?
