It’s awful but the story is 7 years old!

Can we find any updates?

When the same clubdud the same thing in 2013, it got shut down. For a week, at least Hmm

Are they really at it again?

FriendlyJanitor · 08/03/2020 21:35

It was 7 years ago.

There was a police investigation, the club was shut, mirrors removed and staff were given training and there was a risk of losing the license but didn't in the end. Really old news. (Not saying it wasn't awful at the time!)

crikey - Ive just realised I must have bene on this board for about seven years now. Time flies.

SisyphusLangClegRocks · 08/03/2020 21:43

It had today's date at the bottom so thought it was recent. Hope the place got shut down. Awful behaviour.

Hmm... I wonder if there would be the same response now?

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 08/03/2020 22:17

I'm sure there was some recent connection to this place though. Some link to the woman who got chucked out of a club for wearing an LGB Alliance (or was it Adult Human Female) t-shirt or something like that, relatively recently? I think there was some link like same owners or something (sorry, bit vague but can't remember the details!).

NervousInYorkshire · 08/03/2020 22:24

That was the Polo Lounge.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 08/03/2020 22:25

Yes, Shimmy Club (I don't think it exists anymore, I fucking well hope not) was owned by G1 group, which now owns the Polo Lounge, where the woman was kicked out for her LGB T shirt.

NervousInYorkshire · 08/03/2020 22:26

^^ ...but you're right about the same owners.

G1 owns lots of pubs and clubs in Glasgow, for what it's worth.
