My DH is a carpenter and uses reddit to connect with other like minded people (mostly men) and share who photos of their handiwork/ask Qs/give advice.
To cut a long story short: reddit will often recommend sub reddits such as "ask women" "ask men" "law" "finances" "food" "sex".
So I'm on his phone poking about (he's next to me, it's ok) and I find myself browsing the "sex" group where people ask questions related to sex aka things like "secret fantasies" "is it normal that I.." "should it hurt when.." etc. etc. Pretty normal stuff you'd expect. When one of the comments on one of the questions catches my eye, it is a recommendation to a sub reddit called "guro" I click the sub reddit link in his comment and O....M........G.
Tonnes and tonnes of cartoon images men have made of women being mutilated, dismembered, assaulted. My husband and I freaked and immediately reported the group but I highly doubt anything will be done because they're an established sub reddit with thousands and thousands of followers.
What an earth is going on here? Imagine if thousands of women were online discussing and sharing cartoon images with our desire to hurt, torture and mutilate men?
What the fuck! How is this allowed?! Is the concern that if they don't have a place to share their dark fantasies that they'll act them out? Please take my word for it what I'm talking about here isn't BDSM it is violent, gruesome, psychopath style imagery and words followed by a lot of,I'm guessing mostly, men.
