Pritti Patel wouldn't be getting this much crap if she was a man

I think she's probably an awful person and probably has been all sorts of awful to all the civil servants. I am really not a fan and I do think this kind of behaviour should be held to account

BUT I am willing to bet a LOT of money that Philip Rutham would have reacted very differently if she was not an Indian woman.

The amount of bullying that happens by senior men both in the corporate world and in the public service is massive. And yet here we have all these unprecedented and extraordinary steps being taken and it just happens to be a woman....

I hate her. Not because she's a Tory, or a woman or from a minority ethnic background. I hate her because she's a nasty compassion-vacuum who I'm sure would happily sign the order to round up all foreign citizens and intern them in camps.

The Government are gunning for the civil service and it disturbs me. We absolutely need them to provide neutral advice and provide checks and balances. This Government is actively trying to silence any voice of dissent. Look at the recent attempts to blacklist journalists in Number 10. Look at the way they are treating the BBC. It's fucking Orwellian...

Yes absolutely Batley. Ministers rarely have any specialist knowledge of the departments they’re in charge of. Their job is to formulate policy & the civil services job is to implement that policy within their law.

I have no doubt that the civil service has been pointing out to her where government policy conflicts with the law and why they can’t “just” do xyz without there being serious consequences

Permanent secretaries like Sir Phillip will have evidence in triplicate of what she’s done.

Only an idiot like BJ would have appointed her in the first place after she’d already been sacked once

Corbyn never bullied anyone.

He had people like Carrie Murphy to do that for him.
