Douglas Murray claiming credit on Twitter for predicting detransitioner court cases.

OP posts:
nauticant · 02/03/2020 10:42

It's fortunate that ineffective women have been rescued by a man.

twitter.com/DouglasKMurray/status/1234423754207436806

If you look at the comments, apparently the credit should go to Jordan Peterson too.

OvaHere · 02/03/2020 10:48

Him and a million other people.

You didn't exactly have to be Baba Vanga to predict this.

BillyCotton · 02/03/2020 10:52

MN got there long before him Wink
But like ova says, it was fairly blindingly obvious that it would happen.

NonnyMouse1337 · 02/03/2020 10:54

Women have been saying this for way longer than him.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 02/03/2020 11:47

Agreed -others have been saying it longer - but he has shone light on this which I fully welcome.

As the great Janice Turner said - where are all the good men - in this? (Or was it Bonnie Tyler?)

ThePurported · 02/03/2020 12:36

Also predicted by women here: the "PC gone mad" / "it's feminists' fault" crowd will claim all credit Grin
If women hadn't objected and campaigned against this madness, self ID would be law by now and no one would care about detransitioners.
Douglas Murray is spot on about some things, but if there is one male journalist who deserves credit, it's James Kirkup. He really gets it, all of it.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 02/03/2020 13:28

This was not a moment that necessitated psychic ability. Bless him.

Michelleoftheresistance · 02/03/2020 13:54

It's like that wittering the other day on the Times comments on the male journalist's article: 'it shouldn't be up to men to protect/speak for women in this, women have to step up themselves'

Yeah women have been screaming about this for years, but this country is as sexist as fuck and truly oppressed groups aren't listened to, aren't allowed to speak (spot the endless tv and radio 'debates' about women's rights being held amongst a group of males), aren't published, their letters and complaints are ignored, and they are regarded as too unimportant to pay attention to. They have been screaming this stuff trying to be heard. But when a man says it.....

Try identifying out of that.

Goosefoot · 02/03/2020 14:01

I don't really see an issue with that tweet. He did predict it in The Madness of Crowds. There isn't any implication he's the only one. I read it as a bit of mild book promotion.

skql · 02/03/2020 14:08

@Michelleoftheresistance

the matter is small, at least not large part of woman are protesting about this issue.

mainstream woman are dancing with woke tune.

theresa may(i think she was kind of promote transgender policy)
nicola sturgen and RLB ect ect...and liberal feminist groups.

then when men are shouting "it's ridiculous!"
these women are popping up shouting
"i'm woman and i'm all for trans right and i'm ok with that!"
then there's no chance men can push more.

i think that's the problem.

ThePurported · 02/03/2020 14:09

His book came out in September.

skql · 02/03/2020 14:12

and i don't agree on "all for trans right" line.

i think they have same human right as others.
not ultimate "all"

nauticant · 02/03/2020 14:16

His book came out in September.

As what?

BINtersectionalFeminism · 02/03/2020 15:27

Nauticant Grin

Maybe the paperback is imminent?

Yorkshirelass444 · 02/03/2020 16:12

i didn't read it as him claiming to be the only or first person to predict it

Thinkingabout1t · 02/03/2020 16:22

Good for Douglas Murray! He gets a friendly wave from me. And some flowers. Flowers

But really, why snap at someone who's on our side? Aren't there enough misogynists out there who deserve our anger? And the deluded women who think if they're good little handmaids the men might be nicer to them?

I'm well disposed towards anyone who speaks up for women's rights. He undoubtedly gets all the same abuse that anyone else gets if they dare contradict the transgenderist line. Women's rights aren't currently fashionable anywhere, so he's not winning favour with anyone influential, just with ordinary people.

In fact I'll send him some cake as well. Cake Thanks for your support, Douglas. Same to James Kirkup and Graham Linehan too -- all welcome allies against the much more powerful forces that want to crush women.
Wine Wine Wine

nauticant · 02/03/2020 16:26

Like all of us, Douglas Murray can be self-important and pompous. I doubt he'd say that having to be immune to piss-taking is essential to his self-esteem and his identity.

MrsSnippyPants · 02/03/2020 16:36

As well as Janice Turner and James Kirkup let's not forget Andrew Gilligan (before the government nicked him from the Times).

smithsinarazz · 02/03/2020 16:41

@michelleoftheresistance - yeah, men get listened to, so, galling as it is, if them sticking their oar in means the right outcome, that's better than us just kicking off for ages & being ignored. :(

TwistedEyeOfHorus · 02/03/2020 16:50

I believe I can claim credit for spotting that detransitioners would be a real thing a hundred years ago... in a past life...
Oh, to be a man who can brag and not be knocked back by another person's criticism! I'm glad Douglas Murray speaks out, I won't knock him back... but there are a few people who've been saying for a while now that the train will be derailed.

Michelleoftheresistance · 02/03/2020 16:52

skql good point. The 50s revolution for women came in the context of other women shouting and writing multiple articles about how they loved their washing machines and being the little woman and putting on lipstick and having his dinner ready on the table unlike those nasty, selfish, ugly women wanting careers and education …. and the suffragettes were beaten up by gangs of other women.

Plus ca change.

It does remind me rather of Jane Clare-Jones (reader, I married her) wonderful epic The Annals of the T* Wars with the couple of wry gems:

Journalists: The women seem to be making a fuckton of noise about something?

And women: This can't be true! Where are the feminists? Feminists, is this true? Why didn't you say something?

BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted · 02/03/2020 17:10

Personally, I don’t care who’s shining a light, what their sex is, or what their politics are. It’s all sunlight and it’s all good
