I’m not a fan of Patel’s, but that is some seriously foul, misogynistic language from Grayling. Not that I’m surprised that he’s a foul misogynist, mind you.

I’ve only met him once - not that you can see misogyny of course - but I’m just a bit surprised that someone of that standing is so okay with that opinion, he’s tweeted it with complete confidence.

I’m not aware of him using such language about other politicians and indeed I’d be surprised if he used it about a serial killer. But somehow, it’s okay about a woman.

From what I’ve seen, the discipline of philosophy is one of the most misogynistic in academia. It’s absolutely entrenched at all levels. I am never surprised to find out a male philosopher is misogynistic, only the particular expressions of that misogyny shock me.

GC, that’s interesting because I’m increasingly convinced the influence of academia is a big problem at the moment!

Unfortunately all female politicians are subjected to abuse. I wonder if Patel will receive the double whammy of misogyny and racism that Diane Abbott gets?

The replies to him are heartening though, I thought no one would care really.

Disgusting man, I wouldn't have expected to ever find myself defending Priti Patel as a lot of her views and statements are pretty awful but that is just vile
