Not going to make me resubscribe, I'm afraid.

Me neither - they're not getting my money again.

Well that's three minutes of my life I won't get back. What a mealy-mouthed people-pleasing mish-mash.

This paragraph particularly - "For trans people, it is the fear that they will not be recognised and accepted for who they are. This informs their response when the fear of male violence is raised because, for trans women at least, they see themselves as women who are more likely than any other group to be targeted by violence, not the perpetrators of violence. This, in turn, prompts accusations of transphobia."

So, still seeing this group as a homogenous most-victimised-victims-ever. Not seeing -

  • The AGPs
  • The out-and-out predators
  • The young lesbians
  • the teenagers with autism
  • the sexually abused

Way to go Sam, way to go.

Just going to make everyone cross.
The fence seems so painful.

The same goes for lesbians who are accused of being transphobic because they don't want to have sex with a transwoman who is male-bodied. Surely who they have sex with is up to them isn't it?

Remind me again... What is homosexuality?
And what is homophobia?

TheBewildernessisWeetabix · 28/02/2020 22:53

The rights transgender advocate are lobbying for are transwomen's unfettered access to women and girls and transwomen's right to displace women and girls.
How exactly does Fawcett think that can in any way be brought into balance with women and girls right to privacy and dignity?
They are blowing smoke.

HerFemaleness · 28/02/2020 22:55

I've seen the claim before that they're not picking a side and that they recognise that there are competing rights.

To recognise there are competing rights is to pick a side. Trans activism insists there is no conflict of rights. They wrote a list of pledges recently and one of those pledges was a denial that any conflicts of rights exist.

Trans activism will take no disagreement, no matter how kindly and gently you phrase your disagreement. No matter how sensitively you put forward an alternative view. They see the world entirely in a binary, you're either with them or against them, and being with them means to agree and submit to everything they have to say.

Antibles · 28/02/2020 22:56

The way forward is perfectly simple.

Woman = adult human female.

And use critical thinking to shine some major sunlight on the whole concept of trans.

I'm surprised at the support it is getting on Twitter from some people who I thought would have no truck with it.

It is mealy-mouthed, science-denying gibberish which does absolutely nothing to advance the debate.

Increasingly, I'm convinced that what is being sought is not the upholding of trans rights, but the removal of women's rights.

wellbehavedwomen · 29/02/2020 00:45

Everything @HerFemaleness said.

TheBewildernessisWeetabix · 29/02/2020 02:33

Basically they are saying that women's rights are negotiable.
So these women's rights aren't human rights at all but rather privileges the men in government have extended to women reluctantly through the years and are now eager to rescind.
