A local council is doing a survey. They’ve clearly been told to be inclusive, but honestly I don’t even know where to start with this.

Why ‘describe your gender’ but then use sex terms (male/female)? And who is a trans female? Is it someone who’s biologically a female, ie a trans man? Or do they mean trans woman?

(I’ve attached a photo, fingers crossed it works!)

On an air quality survey Hmm

My lungs identify as pissed off, basically.

UpfieldHatesWomen · 28/02/2020 17:21

Another load of meaningless data to be generated there again, great work!

Bezalelle · 28/02/2020 20:24

My left lung identifies as female, but my right lung identifies as a kidney.

Can't you put "Other - Female"?

TheBewildernessisWeetabix · 28/02/2020 20:53

Replacing sex with gender is like replacing modern medicine with hopes and prayers. Believing it yourself is foolish but demanding that others share your beliefs is inexcusable.

Cwenthryth · 28/02/2020 21:19

I always select ‘other’ and write ‘I do not subscribe to gender, my sex is female’. It’s the only honest way to answer that question for me. I don’t have a gender identity to describe.

I had to do the online 111 thing earlier, and they just ask ‘are you 🔲Male 🔲Female’ and there’s a little info button saying ‘why aren’t there more options?’ ‘Well, (paraphrasing) it’s only your sex that is relevant here. If that confuses you then phone us instead’. It was quite refreshing really.

Because for many people they mean the same thing. It's a less common view no than it was in the 80s and 90s but some people still default to the term.

Cwenthryth · 28/02/2020 21:40

But in the 80’s and 90’s we still never ‘identified as’ or ‘described’ our gender. It was still Male/Female. Naming the category ‘gender’ rather than ‘sex’ was just to stop us writing ‘yes please!’ on our exam papers, wasn’t it? Grin

Is there a time/place where gender would be relevant?

Honestly, I think large numbers of people are just confused about what the ideology is meant to be.

WelshMoth · 29/02/2020 08:49

Pity they didn't have another box to tick : "Confused more than ever by your survey"

It's clearly written by someone who has no clue whatsoever who is more keen to tick the woke box , rather than actually educating themselves to this bollocks.
