Boots magazine. Swallowed the woke koolaid.
I hate that I'm scared to post how much this bothers me.
I feel like a coward.

How do you 'transition to being female'?
Asking for a friend.

Lol!

ErrolTheDragon · 25/02/2020 17:52

Oh FFS. The appropriation of IWD is bad enough, but Mother's Day is purely for a subset of 'born female'.

And what's the betting they'll get told off and apologise for 'born' rather than 'assigned'?

NoraEphronsneck · 25/02/2020 17:55

I read this mag on weekend too and couldn't believe how often they shoehorn 'diversity' and 'non-binary' into totally unrelated subjects. I was going to write a short email to the editor to ask what's going on!

Mockersisrightasusual · 25/02/2020 17:55

Boots a once-great British company now part of the Walgreens empire.

Have nothing to do with them.

Elladisenchanted · 25/02/2020 18:00

Oops I've posted it twice. I'll report the other one. It came up with an error message.

I feel like such a coward because I was so scared to post this. But it really upset me. Why isn't OK for my feelings to be counted too?

TheGreatWave · 25/02/2020 18:02

I would prefer nothing to that word salad.

Elladisenchanted · 25/02/2020 18:04

I'm binning it. It's just made me so angry.

Ugh. I walked into Starbucks today had forgotten about their Mermaids thing until I saw the notice board. Now bloody Boots too. At least might save money not shopping at any of these.

I read that too while waiting for my contact lens check. I was fuming so hard that I barely noticed the moment he turned my eyelids inside out to check them.

Elladisenchanted · 25/02/2020 18:10

I just don't understand the power these people have. It doesn't make sense to me. Why do I find it so scary and intimidating to stand up and say this is not OK?
And why do big companies like boots kowtow to this kind of thing? Is it just a money thing? I don't believe the people writing this genuinely believe anyone can change their sex. OK they can dress stereotypically female and change their names and present in a more feminine way, but does anyone really truly deep down think that when men adopt a set of female stereotypes that these people are now women? It literally doesn't make sense to me. Why are so many companies buying into it???

Barf! It’s so patronising too! Ffs it’s an advert mag aimed at adults!

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 25/02/2020 18:19

"Soft power"? 😕

maslinpan · 25/02/2020 18:41

We should always remember that they are a tiny minority, with no power, no voice, who need protecting from all of us, by all of us. Funny how many rainbow flags there are sprouting all over the place.

MadamBatty · 25/02/2020 18:45

Ironically it’s from Boots the Chemist...you know chemistry as in science

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 25/02/2020 19:17

Also chemists as in, people who need to be darn sure of what sex you are before making up your prescription or selling you any medicines, if they don't wish to harm you (or potentially your unborn child)!

More annoyingly, it sounds like this had the potential to be good - strong female role models like Steph H etc - but they had to go and wreck it all with the femininity and "transitioning to female" nonsense 😠

Doyoumind · 25/02/2020 19:43

Someone writes and publishes this shit on behalf of Boots but they clearly sign it off. Yet more people who have no idea about the difference between sex and gender. I don't shop in Boots anymore anyway.

SorryAuntLydia · 25/02/2020 23:21

I know it’s childish but I did smirk at ‘model cum activist’ er I think you mean ‘come’, Boots. Grin

DodoPatrol · 25/02/2020 23:34

No, they’re using it in its meaning of ‘combined with’, as in the splendid parish of Shingay Cum Wendy.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 25/02/2020 23:36

It’s Latin innit.

ChilledBeez · 26/10/2021 16:43

Stopped picking it up a long time ago. The wokeness is absolutely nauseating.

oldwomanwhoruns · 26/10/2021 17:15

Hmm, Boots are not on the old Diversity list on SexMatters' website.

But from their 'corporate responsibility report' I found these gems:

...virtual Coming Out panels giving members of the LGBTQ+ community opportunities to hear and share how consent, empathy, support and understanding can help us create an environment where we are all proud to be our authentic selves in the workplace...

...In February, the Boots Pride Alliance celebrated its first anniversary, hosting businesswomen and trans-activist Kathryn Downs in a learning session...

My bold. So they think that the 'trans-activists' are the good guys????

Good grief.

Gingernaut · 26/10/2021 17:19

@ChilledBeez, why have you picked up a zombie thread from over a year ago?

This issue was talking about IWD in 2020.
