Another murder, another good man

What is the guardian playing at?

A woman was shot, apparently by her husband at the weekend - and their coverage is more interested in the fact she was a dog breeder and she died near stanley Johnson estates.

The coverage also includes a silly little humanising story about princess anne once calling her husband. Yet again the 'he was a good man' myth in play.

Fair enough not to report it as murder by husband until fully confirmed (other papers already reporting) but surely just write a short factual piece.

Have complained to readers editor.

So was it allegedly her husband who shot her?
I may have missed something but the way it's written, it seems like they were shot by some random.

The police clearly suspect someone because there is no call for witnesses and the police have referred themselves for investigation. There was clearly some history.
In the light of that history, knowing that the suspect pool is extremely well connected isn’t unreasonable.
I think the victim might like the photo of her with a dog. They were clearly a large part of her life.

The report in the times says the man is in police custody, albeit being treated in hospital.

One neighbour said: “Debbie wanted a separation. Things came to a head over the last couple of weeks.

Somerset police said last night that officers had “prior contact with those involved” and it had therefore referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. The force described the shooting incident as “self-contained”, indicating that they were not looking for anyone else.

Sounds like a depressingly familiar story.Sad

What a cutesy society rendition of a woman's murder.

I read it as a an account of a real human deceased victim, and a living person, an articulate and well connected man. Who is a person of interest.
And that maybe the result of that presentation, the police didn’t intervene when they should have done. I would think the police have referred themselves because they had opportunities to prevent this.
