Hey, I'm generally a lurker on this topic as I am overawed by the intelligent and articulate messages I read and don't feel I have much to contribute, but am here in the background learning and quietly cheering along 😊. However I recieved my weekly email from Lovehoney (please don't judge 😄) today and thought you guys might be interested...

Lovehoney...

So it refers to 'people with a vulva' 😳 I'm assuming this means women? It doesn't say anything about people with a penis?

So Lovehoney's purducts are for 'people with vulvas'.

Aww I guess you better let them know that as a woman, that is an adult human femaile their stuff is not for you.
Luckly I imagine there are other similar companies who can bring themselfs to say the word woman.

ForagingForFaerieGold · 22/02/2020 11:20

My Goddess! It's insidious isn't it? Angry

Suebnm · 22/02/2020 11:35

I use lovehoney . I am a very disabled adult human female and found their products and attitude helpful for my husband and I .

Never ever again.

Antibles · 22/02/2020 11:38

So cowardly isn't it? They have been like this for a while, I've seen a previous post a fair while back I'm sure.

ddraigygoch · 22/02/2020 11:40

Wow I opened this thread expecting to defend love honey as I love the products for me and my husband and have found the company brilliant.

And now I'll never be using them again b

TheChampagneGalop · 22/02/2020 11:42

So they are advertising a toy for heterosexual couples? It's not very clear because they aren't allowing themselves to write man and woman.

HerRoyalFattyness · 22/02/2020 11:45

Fuck me (see what I did there Wink)
We can't even have sex toys now.
For fucks sake. "People with a vulva"
Women. You mean fucking women. Women have a vulva. Women have a clitoris. Women women women!

LynnSchmob · 22/02/2020 11:54

Have they ever referred to men as “people with a penis” before?

I’ve used love honey before but I’m now boycotting.

AmazingGreats · 22/02/2020 11:57

See normally when people say that it's "political correctness gone mad" they're using it to cover up some kind of old fashioned borderline discriminatory view. Am I really a bigotted dinosaur if I want to be called "woman" not "vulva owner"

Ffs. Sounds like the owner of a Swedish family car.

BentNeckLady · 22/02/2020 11:57

Oh they can fuck off too then.

For fucks sake.

slyoldfoxystoat · 22/02/2020 11:59

Used before but boycotting now and will be emailing them to say why

Gronky · 22/02/2020 13:56

Have they ever referred to men as “people with a penis” before?

Yes:

FactsAreNotMean · 22/02/2020 14:09

This just triggered a major rant! I'm not a vulva haver or a bloody menstruator or or or...

Any man using these terms should be referred to as an ejaculator

Whatsbrownandsticky · 22/02/2020 14:12

I've managed to find "Sex toys for men" "Underwear for men" and "Better sex for her/Better sex for him".
It's odd as most of the lingerie is eighties and things the woman would usually wear, so it makes sense to have a separate category for men.
But the sex toys list items for male and female bodies and then have a separate department just for men as well.

It's like they can't bring themselves to say the word woman.
I feel an email coming on.

Whatsbrownandsticky · 22/02/2020 14:12

*nighties not eighties.

LynnSchmob · 22/02/2020 15:07

Oh well, they seem to just want to offend everyone 🤷‍♀️
Not the only company selling sex toys.

Lordfrontpaw · 22/02/2020 15:16

They are open for comments...

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/02/2020 15:47

There was a side by side display in my GP waiting room for cervical and prostrate cancer.

Men was mentioned 3 times in the cut out laminated blue titles, phrases and paragraphs that made up the display.

Woman wasn't mentioned once on the pink titles, phrases and paragraphs.

It was probably all chopped up from Nhs posters and info, but still.

Lordfrontpaw · 22/02/2020 15:48

That’s when you need a sharpie in your bag!

WrathofFaeKlopp · 22/02/2020 18:01

That’s when you need a sharpie in your bag!
Definitely.

Be prepared.

Bezalelle · 22/02/2020 18:52

Since what they're referring to is clearly a vagina being penetrated, why are they even using vulva?

Renarde19 · 23/02/2020 18:25

I am a sex positive, BDSM educator AND a past customer of Lovehoney. Frankly, it isn't on. Incredibly angry.

I will mail them as well, attaching the above.
