I didn’t catch the start to know exactly who you are, but I know you must be on here somewhere. You rock, sister. Thankyou for speaking up. And it sounds like Shelagh Fogarty gets it.

Absolutely brilliant. Thanks Lucy and thanks Shelagh for pointing out that women are marginalised, women need their spaces protected, by law. This has made my day. A better end to the week!

Cuntysnark · 21/02/2020 12:50

I’ve done my usual. Sent Shelagh a thank you card. If I can source an address for Lucy she’ll get one too.

womaninblue · 21/02/2020 12:51

Yes, absolutely. Sorry Kiri Tunks, all kudos to you for your achievements but talking about institutional patriarchal oppression isn't actually communicating. Lucy communicates in a way people can relate to and understand.

BigChocFrenzy · 21/02/2020 14:20

Lucy and WPUK speak for us 👏🏼 🤛🏼
Labour will be out of power forever, unless they stop prioritising TRAs over women

"Science is not transphobic."
As a STEM PhD, thanks especially for that

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 21/02/2020 14:29

I think the wheels are coming off the trans bandwagon

The sooner they do, the better

RoyalCorgi · 21/02/2020 15:11

Lucy let him have it with both barrels, didn't she?

I love that she was so clear and so passionate. No messing around being polite or euphemistic. Just said what needed to be said in a way that was unequivocal and forthright.

Cwenthryth · 22/02/2020 09:05

LBC posted the clip on their Twitter feed - the comments are overwhelmingly in support of Lucy & Shelagh

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/02/2020 11:14

Haha - Shelagh's face is very expressive at times!

LouHotel · 22/02/2020 11:38

Wow the ending of that clip from shelagh. ''yeah but transwomen are separate to women''

You do you shelagh!!!!

ScapaFlo · 22/02/2020 11:59

That bloke is difficult to listen to, his diction is terrible. Lucy by contrast was crystal clear. I missed half of what he said because he swallowed so many words. If you're going to speak on behalf of people, I should think it might be wise to make sure you can actually be heard.

Xanthangum · 24/02/2020 12:37

Lucy Masoud was on Talk Radio this morning (the J*lia HB show, apologies)

Link:
talkradio.co.uk/opinion/opinion-labour-leadership-transgender-pledge-absolute-nonsense-20022433017

"So what myself and an organisation called Labour Women’s Declaration have done in response to this ridiculous 12-point pledge is we are setting up a meeting that is a robust response to that pledge."

Anyone know any more about this meeting?

Floisme · 24/02/2020 12:58

I've not heard the Talk Radio slot but Lucy's been tweeting about this event:
twitter.com/luluchops1/status/1231912255974977536

Faircop have also retweeted.

I so want to hear Lucy Masoud's voice more. We've got brilliant organisers, writers, thinkers, public speakers, but broadcasting - particularly live, where you have to think on your feet - is a really important skill too.

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/02/2020 14:47

Lucy is a superb speaker. Direct, to the point, no waffle.

Cwenthryth · 24/02/2020 15:09

Excellent. I’m there (annual leave request pending)

MrsSnippyPants · 24/02/2020 16:33

Lucy was fantastic on the JHB show (just after 9.35am if anyone wants to listen back) and Julia is very supportive of women in this fight.

Xanthangum · 24/02/2020 16:44

Thanks @Novina and @Floisme, yes it looks like that's the one.

NotAtMyAge · 24/02/2020 17:31

Lucy Masoud is now a barrister and it really shows in her ability to express herself clearly, cogently and without using jargon. So impressive, as was her recent interview with spiked.

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/02/2020 18:08

Lucy is a barrister? I had no idea, although I knew she had left the fire service.

Oh, thanks. Wow, what a woman!

I'd find it hugely reassuring to have her in my corner.

Cwenthryth · 25/02/2020 07:28

Short clip of Lucy on Talk Radio yesterday

Oh, thanks. Wow, what a woman!
IKR? I read that bio and proper swooned like a heart-eyes smiley.
