The article is about whether or not we should be including pronouns in our email signatures. I think the Twitter ratio shows where most people stand on this nonsense.

So much about misgendering, nothing about priming and stereotype threat. Whenever I see the word 'inclusive' now I have to ask 'inclusive of whom'? It's usually not women.

I'm a PhD student and see a lot of pronouns in email signatures. Usually, it's women with unambiguously female first names declaring that they are 'she'. There's the occasional woke bloke or 'not like other girls' type claiming to be 'they'. What you don't see are ordinary men bothering with this nonsense. I wonder why. Perhaps because they're not socialised to be kind at all cost, including the abandonment of common sense.

So what would Philip Bunce have on his email signature? And, now that I think about it, did he use the same email address when he was dressed up as Pippa?

Redshoeblueshoe · 19/02/2020 15:09

Well I was just liking some of those comments on Twitter and I got locked out again. That's twice this week.
I guess GC people aren't welcome on Twitter.
I have never actually posted anything on there, just liked tweets. Sad

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 19/02/2020 19:13

The overwhelming majority of those comments are nothing to do with the subject matter, just bots out to discredit the BBC.

Ignore it.

'But optional policies also run the risk of only LGBTQ people participating, which can defeat the intent to make it normal'

Hmm.

What you don't see are ordinary men bothering with this nonsense.

Ordinary men don't have any truck with this nonsense.
Only a small minority of TRAs, "woke" and GC types even do.
Most people scoff at this rubbish.

Babdoc · 19/02/2020 23:32

It restores one’s faith in human nature and common sense, reading all those tweets basically telling the BBC to get stuffed with their woke nonsense!
Nobody needs bloody pronouns on an email. The reply will be addressed to them by name or refer to them as “you”.
