Waiting times and having to pay for the hormones themselves.
Just heard a comment about 'earlier the better '.....

Who are they talking about? All the poor menopausal women who can’t get their HRT at the moment? No, probably not 🤷‍♀️, they’re probably not important enough.

Modwolvesrock · 18/02/2020 10:57

Sorry, my shopping delivery just arrived.

They were discussing trans people buying hormones over the internet as they had a long wait on the NHS.
Suicide was mentioned repeatedly. I'm sure half term was not the best time for that, are the BBC stupid? Angry

Comments about the VD propaganda piece on this thread:

A reasonable discussion (with a few questions begged) that reinforces the public perception that a trasnwoman is someone seeking hormone treatment and perhaps also surgery.

Thanks for the link Smile

The thought did cross my mind the other day that we can’t seem to beat the madness so we should join them in the tactics of;
-Threatening suicide if we don’t get what we want

  • Saying we feel “unsafe” every second sentence (with more justification).
  • Finding a tame police force that will record thought crime and prosecute misogynistic hate speech for us (nationally).
  • Insisting that only people who agree with our position can debate.
Etc.

I can’t see any other way out of this madness. We need to co-opt the methodology and victim mentality. Facts are out of fashion.

DodoPatrol · 18/02/2020 11:13

I think we'd be told to grow up.

Or told that we deserve to feel suicidal because we are prejudiced.

ArriettyJones · 18/02/2020 11:22

Probably Angry

I just cannot see how this craziness will ever be reversed. It has gone mainstream so quickly.

CaveMum · 18/02/2020 11:42

I’m sure they didn’t report on this tragic case of a young person with autism and mental health issues who committed suicide after getting hormones online via the Webberleys: www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/cambridge-news/transgender-treatment-nhs-webberley-jayden-16504026

AnyOldSpartabix · 18/02/2020 11:46

Saying we feel “unsafe” every second sentence

That’s one of my biggest bugbears. Women who say stuff like this get told they’re stupid and prejudiced against men. Men who say it, on the other hand.....

LizzieSiddal · 18/02/2020 11:51

I noted the young person said their issues with gender, weren't their only problems. The NHS are letting these people down enormously (like many other young people with MH problems), waiting 3 years to see any medical professional is outrageous. I wonder if they'd been given help years ago, where ALL issues were discussed, what that persons life would be like now.

Mossyrock · 18/02/2020 11:55

I wonder whether they are aware of the Samaritans guidelines for reporting on suicide?

"Remember that there is a risk of imitational behaviour due to ‘over-identification’."

"Over-simplification of the causes or perceived ‘triggers’ for a suicide can be misleading and is unlikely to reflect accurately the complexity of suicide."
