I just received an email:

Dear Attitudes to Gender respondent,

Thank you for your participation and/or interest in the Future of Legal Gender research project being led by Professor Davina Cooper at Kings College London in collaboration with academics at Loughborough University and the University of Kent.

Between October and December 2018 we ran an Attitudes to Gender survey which focused on asking questions to gain a better understanding of what legal gender status means for people, and whether it matters to individuals in their everyday lives. The UK Government ran a public consultation on possible reform to the Gender Recognition Act (2004) in England and Wales between July 2018 and the 22nd October 2018 which, although completely unrelated to this research project, meant that we had a large number of responses to our Attitudes to Gender survey.

Please find attached three infographics that provide 1) a summary of the characteristics of the people who completed the survey, 2) a summary of the answers to key questions that were asked about gender in everyday life, and 3) a summary of the answers to key questions that were asked about legal gender.

Thank you again for your interest in the Future of Legal Gender research project survey findings.

Regards,

The FLaG Research Team

I LOVED the fact that - after all that - they split the survey results by male and female.

The rest of it - good LORD - I'd forgotten how nonsensical the questions were. The results will be of literally no value at all.

77% agree that sex is different to gender..good

Just over 50% agree it's a repressive construct that should be abolished ...long way to go then

46% agree that more people will identify as agender in the future (20% don't know) ...new concepts I guess

90% agree children's toys should be agender ..yeah

Bizarre question legal sex/gender should not be assigned at birth , most common answer ...45% disagree ..

56% agree government needs to know if people are male or female, But only 47% agree male female is a core social characteristics that should be on official documents

63% against removal of Male/female from birth certificate

40% said government should accept someone's gender identity as what they say it is. I think that is 70% when asked about your sexual identity, but they may be using that term as synonymous with orientation. Of course, that might include me...you should take someone's gender identity on face value until, proven otherwise, it's just I don't equate that with their sex !

I'm a bit peeved. I remember doing this ridiculous survey but they don't appear to have responded to me.

Perhaps like Edward Lord's City of London survey, they chucked out my response as I found many of the survey questions so daft I couldn't answer them.

UpfieldHatesWomen · 17/02/2020 20:36

I filled this in and haven't had a response either. Perhaps we should contact them to ask them why not.

EverardDigby · 17/02/2020 20:37

I think I answered this one with "It depends what you mean" a lot. I don't have an email either!
