From comments under one of the Times articles (Labour leadership candidates)
Lord Lucas has a debate next Monday in the House of Lords:
"Ensuring that at least half of the communal changing or toilet facilities in public buildings are reserved for women only"

And don’t want some men watching however they identify

Completely agree.

But I think with someone like this, who is asking for opinions & feedback - there's at least a chance I can be heard.

Long game. That's just my opinion anyway.

I think he underestimates the potential for compromise. It is simply not possible for transwomen to access single sex spaces without harming women.

Voice0fReason · 17/02/2020 23:30

It is promising that he is asking questions and has some understanding that this is an issue even if he doesn't fully understand the details.
Miles ahead of the latest spoutings from Labour.

Again here, it is easier for a man to understand the hurt of not complying with the gender expectations placed around you than it is for them to understand the hurt of sexual abuse. Because they are much more likely to have had some first hand experience of the former and not the later

Have emailed - thanks!

I've emailed as well....highlighting that any man wishing to breakdown safeguarding of women & children (as many women have young children with them whilst using the toilet) needs to be scrutinised very closely. It is simply unacceptable that a teenage girl be expected to walk into toilets where grown men may be hanging around.
