Andy Burnham has released a statement reaffirming his ‘support for the trans community’ after it was revealed he met with members of the LGB Alliance.
The non-party political LGB Alliance say their aim is to ‘assert the right of lesbians, bisexuals and gay men to define ourselves as same-sex attracted’.
However, the group has faced criticism for its policies and were most recently called a “transphobic organisation" by the Labour Campaign for Trans Rights (LCTR).

“There was no mention in the letter of the LGB Alliance,” Burnham’s representatives said in a statement issued this week.
“The Mayor therefore agreed to meet, as he would any Labour Party members, and as he has done for other individuals and groups, to hear all points of view on an issue.
“Meetings do not indicate support for any individual or group but the Mayor continues to support the changes proposed to GRA as set out in his letter to the Secretary of State.”
