Contraceptive pill in water causing gender confusion?

Had dinner with a friend tonight who's fairly uninformed on GC issues (well at least she was before this evening) but has always been anti-woke, a good independent thinker.

She mentioned that she'd read something many many years ago about the effect of the contraceptive pill in our potable water supply impacting not only fertility but 'gender confusion' in the following generation. Sounds a little like codswallop to me. Has anyone else heard this?

I used to have a job that involved disposing of past-date drugs, basically it meant flushing them down the toilet.

I do hope this was a long time ago because it's quite illegal today. Medications have specific disposal bins for incineration (and controlled drugs are denatured first to discourage theft of medical waste). The two biggest risks from flushing that spring to mind are from antibiotics entering the environment, causing resistant organisms and medications which have teratogenic effects.

If you (a general you, not you in particular, Goosefoot) have expired or unwanted medication please return it to a pharmacy so it can be disposed of safely.

There are quite a few studies about BPA exposure on foetal development.

“ The results suggested that offspring exposed to BPA during late pregnancy showed higher anxiety than controls, corresponding to an apparent loss of sexual dimorphism of anxiety-like behavior.”

There’s a lot more in there but it’s an interesting read.

Contraceptive pills have been used for decades, but the large number of gender confused children and teenagers have mainly appeared after certain groups started telling them that they must be a boy if they like football, or must be a girl if they have ever looked at a general direction of a doll.

I don't know the science of it, but I have read about it in the past. What I find worrying is that if the minimum hormones in a contraceptive pill have caused this craziness of transgenderism, surely the cure should not be to put more hormones into the water supply.

No this is not codswallop. I'm at work but will try and post links later but there is a lot of chemical waste in the water sources which is changing aquatic life. This includes medication which is passed out through human waste and is extremely difficult to remove from the water supply. We do not yet know the full effect of this on humans.

Oh yes, this was back when I was a high school student.
