This social networking site is using AI and biometrics to ensure its users are only girls.
But guess what? It can't recognise the users gender identity so screens out trans girls. Who woulda thunk it?

Ah ha ha ha ha. It's almost as if there are actual physical differences between male and female humans. Well colour me shocked.

Wow, aweful misgendereing and apparently it's unclear why they need to be so particular when it's purpose is only to set up room mates and travel buddies....

The website includes advertising images that include black women so that would be an own-goal if true.

Again, that is likely to be down to the diversity (or lack thereof) of the training data of some early systems.

It's amusing how much this app has annoyed some sections of the populous and the very predictable 'lets destroy it' attitude it's provoked.

However I'd be a bit wary of an app that stored that kind of info about women so proceed with caution regardless of what the TRAs think of it.

I don't know even where to start with this.

How about we all get offline and talk in person as much as possible and stay away from apps and websites that use gender in place of sex....

Don't know specifically about this app but I definitely saw a credible source saying black women get misread due to their complexion, possibly bone structure which is closer to a white male than the software is designed for. Again I'd be wary of an app that insists on a selfie never mind real name so its red flag galore so far.

Well initially I giggled at the obvious flaws for a "girls only" app.

Then I read this...

Giggle is able to then share that information with third-party websites and services, including facial recognition providers, chat room providers, and marketers. Sex, Gender, Privacy? What a dilemma.

Except it sounds a lot like pseudo-science.
