Haven't seen this posted anywhere but... ugh! Don't know what to say really...

Funny how they describe them as a woman in a suit and man in a wedding dress... did they just assume the gender of some emojis. Is that a cyber hate crime?

tobee · 30/01/2020 17:04

Still don't know what to think!

Are people crying out for these?

Are Unicode going for the woke vote?

The emoji of the moustachioed bride looks like a parody.

OP posts:
Barracker · 30/01/2020 17:31

Is there a uterus emoji yet?
Oh, don't bother, I can probably guess...

Doyoumind · 30/01/2020 18:14

I just don't get the moustaches in wedding dresses one. Or the mullets in suits. I agree - where is the demand?

It does seem, looking at that picture, to be all about the menz! And also some strange animals appear to have been lobbying too!

What's with that weird Groucho one?

OP posts:
SciFiScream · 30/01/2020 18:32

Woohoo!!! Roller skates at last. Yes. (Sorry I'm miffed about the others)

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 30/01/2020 18:38

Loving the ninjas. But those mullets...

(Elderly relative is at the very end of her life, so I'm saving my blood pressure today)

HandsOffMyLangCleg · 30/01/2020 18:45

Good Lord. It's like a 1980s football fest with all thesemulletsand taches.

Graeme Souness meets Pronputia.

ACatWhoBinds · 30/01/2020 18:52

What's the big deal about a man in a dress? A man can wear a wedding dress if he wants! And many women wear suits to weddings! I legit don't know what the deal is with your outcry!

HandsOffMyLangCleg · 30/01/2020 19:19

I wore a suit to my brother's wedding, Cat. No mullet though.

tobee · 30/01/2020 19:54

It's not really an outcry though is it?

With these things (commercial) it's more about what some company wants to nail its colours to that interests me. Some kind of brownie points by association?

BolloxtoGender · 30/01/2020 21:06

Well, that’s cultural appropriation of ninjas by Anyone who is not Japanese and that’s a definite woke crime...such hypocrisy.

That uterus looks more like a penis shape.

Barracker · 30/01/2020 21:50

Is that an actual live emoji, siring1?

I know the consortium were lobbied for various female emojis a year or two ago relating to menstruation but refused to approve them.

Isn't that the proposed uterus emoji that was denied? Because yanno, only a few billion of us have uteruses so it's not so important.

Mustachioed brides, though, well, hurry up lads, that's urgent.

I hope I'm wrong. I certainly can't access a uterus emoji on Android though.

ACatWhoBinds · 30/01/2020 21:54

@Barracker - there's no penis emoji though, unless you count the aubergine that is 😂 I do see where you're coming from with tampon emojis. What's the problem with a man in a wedding dress though? Men are allowed to wear dresses - in an ideal world we wouldn't even bat an eyelid at it!

Barracker · 30/01/2020 22:06

The issue is that there is a nose, an ear, a lung, an anatomical heart emoji. None of which I imagine was lobbied for as enthusiastically as the uterus, which lets face it, is regulated and legislated and regularly menstruated far more than a penis (or ear, or lung). And was actively requested, by large numbers of people. But denied.

There's no issue with a man in a wedding dress per se, but are you suggesting there's a greater demand for that than for the apparently unacceptable uterus?

So the priority order goes
Ear yep
Lung deffo
Man in veil of course
Nose naturally
Mx Santa great idea
Uterus? F*ck no. What a repulsive thought, who would want to see THAT?

tobee · 30/01/2020 22:06

I find it interesting that these emojis have been designed and are available. And wondered what others think.

OP posts:
tobee · 30/01/2020 22:09

X posted with Barracker I think that was my initial thought. The man in a wedding dress takes centre stage. Or, at least, in the Sky reporting.

OP posts:
Doyoumind · 30/01/2020 23:46

Of course a man can wear a wedding dress but how often is someone going to require an emoji of a guy with a moustache wearing a white veil? I'm guessing not that often.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 31/01/2020 10:33

Mumsnet have had a gender neutral Santa for ages! Round yellow faces have no sex and anyone can wear a Santa hat.

TinyTear · 31/01/2020 11:00

All those bottle feeding ones is there a BREASTfeeding one or is that too triggering?

picklesdragonisawelshdragon · 31/01/2020 11:07

I like the sentimental tear.

The bottle feeding appears to have both relaxed and harassed women, but only relaxed men.

Unless my eye sight is failing.
