@JustineMumsnet

We the undersigned would like to ask you to consider reinstating LangCleg after a temporary suspension, as you have done with others.

Or perhaps, consider reinstating her for a three-month trial period and then reviewing.

We know you will have realised, from the two other LangCleg threads, how much her wisdom and constant voice in support of robust safeguarding is welcomed by so many on this board. It is truly a great loss to us, and to the depth of discussion about such important matters.

We hope Justine that you might do two things:

  • Review what actually happened with LangCleg and decide whether it really was so dire that she deserves permanent expulsion, or whether perhaps there was an element of misunderstanding on your moderators' part (which Michaeel's post indicates may have happened) and, that perhaps she was being held to an inappropriately high standard compared to others
  • Review the process, so that strong voices on here are able to continue to be heard for the benefit of all Mumsnet users

Or perhaps do neither of those things, and just reinstate her because you recognise how important your other Mumsnet users find her.... I guess the equivalent of a Royal Pardon,

Please hear our voice.

And everyone on here, please do sign if you want LangCleg back - just that, a signature with any discussion continuing on the LangCleg 2 thread. A signature to say you want her back and hope that @JustineMumsnet will consider this.

Thank you - both my fellow mums netters and Justine

I’m glad your moderators feel ‘safe’ from the dangerous literal violence of a typing voice

Jesus. You know abusive online behaviour/trolls is an actual thing, right? Rightly so.

@snowblight and @WotchaTalkinBoutWillis when you quoted this you both accidentally left off the important part at the end. No need to thank me.

"But I’m glad your moderators feel ‘safe’ from the dangerous literal violence of a typing voice advocating for safeguarding"

nachthexe · 25/01/2020 16:19

Thanks train. Nothing like a good misquote deliberately made to stoke hatred. Your post says an awful lot about your intent here, Willis. Thanks for showing everyone.

Ohhhh so if they advocate for safeguarding they can be as abusive as they like then?
As that's how it comes across.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 25/01/2020 16:57

With respect this thread is for users to sign who want Lang back.

If you don't or disagree with this by all means "not signed" shows your stance and that's fine.

If however you wish to derail please start another thread.

If people didn't want it to go off topic, you'd think they'd just do as what you said, put signed or not signed instead of adding sentences minimising online abuse.

We’ll be introducing a three strikes system whereby users deleted more than three times in any rolling six week period will have their membership automatically suspended and we’ll then take a view as to whether they will have membership reinstated.

This was quoted on the other thread in site stuff.

Mumsnet previously emailed and wrote this, in response to my query regarding deletions and strikes (as I wasn't being informed of my deletions):

*While we do operate a (slightly looser) three strikes and a suspension policy across the boards, we don't generally email about every single deletion if they aren't related to our trans guidelines or are an issue we think we need to speak to a poster about.

If you'd had lots of deletions we might send you a mail letting you know that your posting was causing an issue, though. So either way, you should get some form of warning.

Occasionally, a post is so bad, or we have serious concerns about a poster and we will go straight to a suspension.

We always encourage people to email in and let us know if they think that's happened. We're always happy to chat and hopefully sort things out.*

MN quotes 'trans guidelines' which refers to the previous sticky, which has now been corrected to reflect the discussion that is sex and gender (or gender and sex as MN lists it).
