Women’s work networks including men.

I’ve been looking at the inclusion and diversity pages on my work intranet.
There’s a group for BAME members, a youth one, an LGBT one and ‘Aspire’.
The latter is initially described as a women’s networking and support group. It also states that it’s open to men.
Am I thick or does this just defeat the point? The BAME group doesn’t mention involving white members?

Ours is open to men, who are meant to “champion” women or somesuch. I would prefer women only.

Not sure about the BAME group.

DH is straight and has attended a few events/talks organised by the LGBT group, as some talks are open to all.

Crikey, why do we need blokes to ‘champion’ is? Why don’t they encourage them to tackle misogyny in men’s groups/patriarchal society instead? If they wanted to be useful they can champion women and girl’s safe spaces.

All our staff network groups are open t everyone. You don’t have to be a member of the ‘target group’. So yes there are men who attend our women’s staff network group events, although tends to be small numbers.

Because it has proved practically impossible to regulate which males under which circumstances may identify into women's spaces without causing one hell of a kick off it's just slid into everything for females will become open to males and therefore by default, mixed sex.

It's a straightforward land grab. I suspect the next step will be to try and define people born female in a different way to try and reserve something that they may be allowed to have for themselves, but there's a group of males very, very determined that this shouldn't be allowed.
