t.co/LKLDhOZqy2? Apologies if someone has linked to this already. It's a very good article about Helen Steel and why it was so outrageous and ill-informed to tell her last year that she wasn't welcome at the Land Camp in Derbyshire when she was one of the founder members of the Land Justice Network, of which it was an offshoot. She has been denounced as a transphobe for all the usual wearily familiar reasons. The article, by Mike Hannis, is a well-written, very comprehensive rehearsal of the arguments for and against gender self-ID, with a commendable and rare distinction all the way through between sex and gender.

What a woman Helen Steel is, though. It makes my blood boil to think of these impertinent young whippersnappers dismissing her for wrongthink. Angry Sad

Clueless little idiots who don’t know their history.

Helen Steel is a legend.

I agree she is.
Off topic I know but not being from the UK I'd be unfamiliar with Keir Starmer were it not for his role in McLibel.
Is it possible he is still connected to Helen and therefore more likely to be critical of trans activist authoritarianism?

Just read the article. Very clearly explained: well done to the author!

Quite a good overview. This struck me, it was from the oen letter quoted in the article:

"Progressive movements are supposed to work on the basis of mass participation; it is only through the honest exchange of views and varied life experiences that we are able to understand the implications of power dynamics, policies and laws and able to ensure that everyone's rights are protected."

I think this approach has been going by the wayside among progressives for some time, before the gender debates. I think this tendency needs to be resisted at a higher level than just this issue.

Helen Steel is a legend.

Yes, she is.

Very well worth a read, indeed. And so clearly written, so understandable, which is always a bonus.

Thanks for posting this, OP!

A brilliant article. I hope it is read widely. Smile

Fascinating article.

And you'd think the hypocritical primogeniture exclusion would give the Land Justice Network pause for thought.

Also Helen Steel's life story should be made into a film.

There's a video available of Helen speaking at a WPUK event, which is very powerful. An incredible woman. I hadn't realised she had been deceived in the under cover police operation.
