Haven't seen another thread about this. Happening right now in Glasgow.

Kate Harris is outlining the @AllianceLGB’s plans for 2020 - challenging regressive gender stereotypes, lobbying in support of LGB rights, and pushing for EHRC & legal investigation into Stonewall. #LGBAllianceScotland

Great speakers. And what a brilliant backdrop:

One person wrote: “As a trans person I don’t think I’d feel welcome in Oran Mor again. The expression of views that I’m subhuman and should be denied basic rights isn’t compatible with a safe and inclusive venue.”

LOL a touch melodramatic. What basic rights are trans people being denied?

Which other group gets to change their birth certificates based on a feeling? Which other group gets politicians and organisations bending over backwards to change laws and policies based on twitter outrage?

I think "denied basic rights" there can be read as "denied the right to do whatever I want all the time".

For all the "boycotting" they do I do actually wonder how much money these TRA's initially have spent the the target of these boycotts? Because the impression I get is that a good chunk of these whingers going on and on about "Not feeling safe!" in said places had:

A) Never gone to these places to begin with, therefore the threat of 'loss of custom' is bollocks to begin with.
B) Had no future plans of attending thezse places/ didn't know of its existence until someone announced its act of "transphobia" on social media and
C) Don't have the consistent funds/ are financially independent for them to make a these targets take a blow to their profits.

Seems more like same old virtue signalling to me, smaller version of how they tried to "boycott" JK Rowling and HP related stuff, they don't realise that they are a tiny drop in the ocean when it comes to £££ power.😄

I'm glad there is a new group to support LGB people, the lurch to the right in both the UK and US is a worrying time for many people. That said, I've searched their website and have struggled to locate much information let alone action with regards to addressing important issues like the reasons for a rise in reported hate crime in the UK, the plight of gays and lesbians in Russia and in particular Chechyna and numerous other issues worldwide. Being a bit geeky I would like to see them clarify their position with regards to supporting gay and bi-sexual transsexuals who are broadly supportive of the T?
