What's the craic with Owen Jones today then?

I can't make head nor tail of it or a lot of his twitter feed today. Something about Emma Burnell (I don't know who she is?), who retweeted something from Karen Ingala Smith? And is now accusing OJ of being a bully. Or is that a different spat?

Can anyone shed any light?!

It sounds like someone took umbrage because he liked or followed someone who once said something unacceptable.

Also another person/people tweeting as Laura Piddock (but not her) pretending to be his dad who died two years ago and writng stupid things to him. Honestly i dont know how he carries on, he gets so much abuse and i now hes a bit marmite but really, does he deserve this?

To be honest, I think he probably does need to get off twitter for a while, for his own sake and everyone else's.

So, see this is what i dont understand. I have only recently started following him, during the election campaign and wasnt really aware of anything about him other than that i really liked the way he explained things. I didnt understand LGBTQ ( and to be honest still dont really but am trying to educate myself. But the thing is, i thought Owen was pretty much live and let live, be and do whatever makes you happy. Is he anti- trans, anti-women or what? I have never gotten this vibe from him, i thought he was pretty cool whichever? Genuine question, not trying to cause aggro!

@Doyoumind, forgive my ignorance on the subject. Do you mean he supports men who now identify as women but not women who identify as men? Im quite disappointed if this is the case as he comes across a really tolerent of everyone and a fairly decent guy. I shall be paying more attention to his views in future.

They are all as bad as each other.

The twitterverse is responding to him encouraging his thousands of followers to harass someone who said something he didn't like by giving him some of his own back and he does not like it.
Flying monkeys or Dementors, mobbing people on the internet with verbal abuse is wrong no matter who does it.

@JayAlfredPrufrock I think Giles Coren made a remark that was taken to be homophobic and when Owen called him out on it a group of Owen's "supporters" allegedly went round to Giles's house and harassed his wife and kids as Giles wasnt there at the time. All a bit pathetic on all sides really, i agree.

OJ is a left wing misogynist who cannot bear to hear women disagree with him.

No, he supports trans men but thinks anyone who speaks out about women's rights is transphobic.

Some people have views on how he has approached the subject of antisemitism in the Labour party as well.

Haha, 'tolerant guy'..mmm...so tolerant he's blocked half the female population of the UK. Super tolerant.

Owen reckons he is a feminist but thinks that women who want to protect their rights are 'transphobic' - he did use the term TERF at one point but appears to have realised that that is now an unacceptable term and will see him roasted.

He thinks that saying that women don't have penises is transphobia and thinks that women can have penises and should therefore be allowed in female vulnerable spaces. However, don't ask him if he would go down on a 'male vagina' because apparently that is 'erasing his sexuality'... Or something.

He posed next to a young women who was wearing a 'will suck dick for socialism t-shirt' and tweeted it. Notably he wasn't wearing the t-shirt. People who called him out on it were homophobic because, if you didn't already know, he is gay and so any sort of questioning of this shite is an attack on the whole 'queer' community.

He is one of these people who will tell all and sundry how woke and caring he is, and what a feminist he is, but has no qualms about throwing women right under that oncoming number 263 bus if he thinks it will make him look good.
