ability to see depends on men giving blood' www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-51047046 BBC But surely there’s an easy solution to the lack of male blood donors?

Isn’t there..?

We need more women to identify as men.

That'll fix it.

This says we need more male blood donors? I fail to understand a link to the feminist board?

DryHeave · 10/01/2020 05:22

Yep, to “help fix the widening gender imbalance”.

Dangerfloof · 10/01/2020 05:24

Surely not, wasnt there a big hooha about young girls actually being men. A 90% increase in fact. Just get some of them to give blood.
Et voila

Gingernaut · 10/01/2020 05:24

Male and female IS biological.

Men tend to have more iron in their blood, making them more suitable donors for certain conditions and women who have been pregnant are unsuitable donors for certain patients and blood products.

Identify out of that.

Aaah so biology is ok to define when you want something. Ok..

InionEile · 10/01/2020 06:57

'Male' blood...?? Way to assume the gender of the blood. How dare they. There is no biological sex. How are we possibly to know who has male blood or female blood? Look inside their pants to check their genitals??? Such a fetishistic obsession with genitalia. The blood could also be nonbinary, after all.

Sexnotgender · 10/01/2020 07:02

Aaah so biology is ok to define when you want something. Ok..

Of course, like if you want to rent a womb or something. It’s amazing how the woke bearded folk suddenly understand biological sex when they want something 😏

slipperywhensparticus · 10/01/2020 07:04

Women who have had children cant donate to men something to do with antibodies apparently

SarahTancredi · 10/01/2020 07:08

Yes I guess now there are two occasions

Rich white and wanting a baby
Blood banks

Although I expect when they need women it will still be the same...

SarahTancredi · 10/01/2020 07:10

We have prostate cancer leaflets at work

"Men we are with you" they say.

Text MEN10 or something.

When do women ever get three numbers to call with the word woman in.

JellySlice · 10/01/2020 07:34

Feeling discriminated against trumps the safety of others.

Biology is real.

Pinkarsedfly · 10/01/2020 07:50

Yes, that was my point. Biology IS real. Men and women ARE different.

This is from the woke BBC. Agendas can be quietly ignored when the facts are inconvenient, it seems.

OP posts:
DodoPatrol · 10/01/2020 07:50

That’s an intriguing article all round. They don’t suggest any reasons for the steep drop in male donors relative to female ones, as far as I can see.

Anyone able to cast any light on it?

MoleSmokes · 10/01/2020 08:10

It is quite bizarre reading something by the BBC where:

men = male
women = female
gender = sex

Somebody forgot to wear their Woke Socks to work!

Not a menstruator, cervix-haver, foetus-carrier or gender identity in sight. Men are just men, with no clumsy caveats on the pretext that transmen will get all confused and think that their blood is sought as donors.

This says we need more male blood donors? I fail to understand a link to the feminist board?

You missed the part that it would be to the benefit of women - why is that, I wonder, Toomanygerbils ?

Sexequality · 10/01/2020 08:13

But they generally manage to define men correctly.

Pinkarsedfly · 10/01/2020 08:16

I’m trying to think how they might have worded a woke version of that article.

‘People! If you were born with a penis and testicles, we need you to donate your person-blood. Don’t worry, we will label your contribution according to your Gender Identity. Your person-blood will not be deadnamed. The label will say ‘Blood Donated By Woman With A Cock And Bollocks.’

OP posts:
GrinitchSpinach · 10/01/2020 08:23

The American Red Cross has moved to self ID for donations... I can’t understand how their lawyers have allowed this. Won’t they be liable if a man dies or is harmed after receiving a donation from a previously pregnant female who self-IDs as male?

www.redcrossblood.org/donate-blood/how-to-donate/eligibility-requirements/lgbtq-donors.html

MoleSmokes · 10/01/2020 08:47

Pinkarsedfly Grin

That is crazy GrinitchSpinach but I am sure someone on FWR posted that they went to donate blood in the UK recently and the form they filled in asked for "Gender" Confused

It is beyond stupid! It will probably take someone being hurt before they see sense. Ridiculous.

Dangerfloof · 10/01/2020 18:12

Anyone able to cast any light on it?
Well of course if you identify as a woman they cant use your blood?
I'm guessing that lots more blood donors now identify as women?
I do wonder how this will work now its "gender"

FrogsFrogs · 10/01/2020 19:34

According to the rules used for women

The service should be requesting more donations from those with iron rich blood.

People who don't know if they have iron rich blood are just lazy and possibly stupid.
