@Malachitetiger said Wait, so after screaming for years that any lesbian who would willingly date a trans woman isn't really a lesbian, mumsnet are now furious that a pansexual woman didn't call herself a lesbian?

and: How are they still fixated on this inane garbage with everything going to hell?

Waiting to see how they reply to this comment somebody (presumably a MNer) has put:

With everything going to hell, why are you fixated on what is happening on Mumsnet?

Support from MNers might be needed.

Where are all these "furious" posts? Grin

Ereshkigal · 03/01/2020 12:18

The vast majority of that thread is actually given over to discussing the Lib Dems and how dodgy they are, specifically what Moran's new girlfriend is alleged to have done by faking an email to trump up an allegation against a website to get an extremely inconvenient story suppressed.

Sexequality · 03/01/2020 12:31

Also mention of Moran’s arrest for DV

NotTerfNorCis · 03/01/2020 13:17

I see they're doing that irritating checks notes thing. Why do they need so many notes?

nauticant · 03/01/2020 13:23

To lend credence to the existence of an apparently substantive body of evidence.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/01/2020 13:37

No-one is 'furious'.Hmm And afaik no-one thinks Moran should be calling herself a lesbian, she clearly shouldn't. 'bi' would have done fine, but maybe better if she'd just avoided making a fuss about her label.

RedHoodGirl · 03/01/2020 13:41

I think the only reason she even spoke about it was because she was about to be ‘outed’ by a journalist. Surely also it’s up to her how she wants to define her own sexuality and what she labels herself?

bettybattenburg · 03/01/2020 14:52

And claiming we are searching in twitter for Mumsnet, like we don't have a life,

Leave em to it.

They're missing the point entirely. But let's face it, wisdom isn't their finest skill.

NeurotrashWarrior · 03/01/2020 14:55

Bunbury smells a rat.

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 03/01/2020 15:15

There are a few posts asking why she didn't call herself a lesbian, which is a bit odd when she's made it clear she also has had relationships with men, so clearly isn't a lesbian (and I know bisexual people who get annoyed that they're treated like they don't exist). But it's individual posters, not the hive mind that some people like to imagine.

pachyderm · 03/01/2020 22:15

Ok boomer checks notes you super gross t*rfs can literally get in the sea and in the bin, leave trans folks alone, bigots, fight me.

Ah Twitter argot. As rich and nuanced as Newspeak.

theflushedzebra · 03/01/2020 22:57

The thread about Moran was more about the behaviour of Moran's partner, and the fake email, and Moran's dv...and whether Moran should lead the LBs.

Nobody really cares about her being pansexual, I don't really know what pansexual is or how it's different to bisexual and nobody thinks she should call herself a lesbian Confused because she clearly had a relationship with a man.

Gingerkittykat · 04/01/2020 05:08

I'm actually wondering if it was my post about how Moran had made of fool of herself compared to the dignified way Kezia Dugdale and Ruth Davidson handled their coming out that triggered this little Twitter tantrum.

I also love how this person didn't link to the thread yet others were able to agree without question.

TirisfalPumpkin · 04/01/2020 07:38

I recognise that account, he’s a furry who comments on everything the LGB alliance post. Now he’s taken to monitoring us too.

I didn’t really get the lesbian thing either, she seems to be bi but woke about it. There are, of course, lesbians who figured out they were lesbians later in life despite previous relationships with men, because of compulsory heterosexuality. It’s the capacity for attraction that defines your orientation, IMO.

Dolorabelle · 04/01/2020 08:09

A friend of mine - not unknown on MN actually - who is part of the new LGB Alliance, posted asking why Ms Moran doesn't justcall herself 'biseaxual.'

So it's not just MN, but "leaders" of the LGB community ...

OhHolyJesus · 04/01/2020 08:18

Just noting, I've been made aware of a fake LGB Alliance group on FB, the real one doesn't use shock tactics.

I personally don't understand why Bisexual doesn't do as term to describe LM's sexuality, as she feels the need to 'come out', being that there are only two sexes, pansexual to me just means you are attracted to people because of their personality. They still either have a male or female body, hence the bisexual tag does just fine, but I guess that's not cool enough these days and she is after all trying to appeal to the young crowd.

Sexequality · 04/01/2020 08:49

Bisexuality doesn’t come with the transgender/woke cloak of protection that makes all your actions beyond reproach.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/01/2020 08:59

Genderists presumably eschew 'bisexual' because they like to pretend they believe there are more than two sexes.

Bisexuality recognises there are more than two genders in the same way it recognises there are more than two eye colours, political opinions, preferences for home decoration, sexual positions, freckle arrangements, etc - they're irrelevant.

Being bi is having a sexual orientation towards both sexes. Nothing more, nothing less.
