I'm pretty sure he's being sarcastic, the whole thread in context is him being sarcastic in his replies that TWAW, the one before this is:

He's literally got the issue with the GRA changes down to the point where i have understood them, any men can say "i'm a woman" therefore removing sex based rights.

Yes he’s making a very clear distinction, as I read it, between transwomen and men.

I think those praying hands say a lot though. What else could they mean than "oh please don't lynch me twitter, I'll be good"?

I would be extremely surprised if Ricky thinks TWAW. I'd guess either he just worded it badly, was being sarcastic, or has been given a carpeting ahead of hosting the Golden Globes.
If it's the latter, I'd be extremely surprised if said it to make it easier for his career but rather to keep his GG spot and we'll get some sharp jokes about it once he's on the stage. He doesn't seem the type to kowtow to bullies.
