That they’re too thick to use an original quote so had to twist an old one. ‘There’s no I in team

I mean I agree there's no cis in team as cis isn't even a real thing, but there's no logic, there are only trans people in teams? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Melioration · 01/02/2020 15:15

The “sister not cister” placard was a winner too. It makes you wonder if they have been infiltrated Grin

refusetobeasheep · 01/02/2020 15:38

the protestors had left by lunchtime.

refusetobeasheep · 01/02/2020 15:45

These are the plenary sessions .. second one about to start shortly. Maya was great in the first one, Pragna illuminating and Joanna pretty funny!

I arrived at 10.30 and the protestors had gone by then! Perhaps they weren’t really very committed or prepared to invest any time...

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 01/02/2020 16:12

Been ill but have been determined to get there for at least some of it. Didn't have any blue ribbon but I'm a tallish short haired woman with a wheely walker thing (don't know the proper name for it) and a purple rucksack.

OhHolyJesus · 01/02/2020 16:31

Had to leave early and didn't make it to many workshops but it was worth every moment just to meet up and see the stands of LGB Alliance and Safe Schools Alliance, Nordic Model Now and FiLiA.

It was a privilege to be in the company of women...so many women... for the day...and I did see a group of men queuing outside the workshop "Men supporting women's rights".

It's going to be a truly massive year, there is work to be done, let's make sure we follow up from today and make connections, write letters, join protests and dig holes!

NotTerfNorCis · 01/02/2020 16:46

Looks very successful. Feminism rebuilt!

LangClegTheBeardedVulture · 01/02/2020 19:58

It was an excellent conference- really inspiring to see so many women from all walks of life and with such a wealth of knowledge and experience. The speakers were inspiring and got standing ovations.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 01/02/2020 20:01

Glad it went well. I’m very jealous of those that attended.

ChattyLion · 01/02/2020 20:04

Glad to hear it was a great day! Glitterball

heathspeedwell · 01/02/2020 20:07

I literally welled up when Maya got a standing ovation even before she spoke so brilliantly.

The whole event was wonderful and there are too many highlights to list, but one thing that really struck me was what a fantastic warm, funny, kind and inspirational speaker Julie Bindel is. Anyone who no-platforms her isn't just massively missing out. They are also denying lots of other people a potentially life-changing experience.

Well done to all the organisers, speakers, panelists, volunteers, caterers... Heartfelt thanks to every single person who made it happen.

Branleuse · 01/02/2020 20:21

Fantastic conference. Really inspiring

Becles · 01/02/2020 20:21

Had a great day and said hello to quite a few mumsnet folk. If you missed the event try to get hold of the notes or video. Well worth it.

MrsSnippyPants · 01/02/2020 20:35

I have never been so exhausted and so exhilarated! Much love to all the Mumsnetters I met and sorry I missed a few of you. I’m currently recovering with a cocktail and will try and put some coherent thoughts together later x

ArranUpsideDown · 01/02/2020 20:46

I didn't manage to see a single Mumsnetter but I'm not great at spotting blue.

Excellent event.

midclegs · 01/02/2020 21:23

Omg. This was probably one of the most illuminating days of my life.
Only managed to meet a handful of Mumsnetters (so lovely!) but met so many other women who'd I would've never not mer in my course of life.
As the ending plenary note said "We are a movement - let's move!".

midclegs · 01/02/2020 21:29

MrsSnippy fab to talk. Will be in touch :-)

quickkimchi · 01/02/2020 21:29

Omg, an incredible day. I'm full of feminism, love and beer.

Cuntysnark · 01/02/2020 21:49

Met so many fabulous women. Onwards & upwards sisters. Love that there are readers who don’t post but ‘do’ stuff. Solidarity.

chilling19 · 01/02/2020 22:11

Best photo of the day - security at FILIA and WPUK. Don't think the protesters behind her quite got the point. 🤣

TheBewildernessisWeetabix · 01/02/2020 22:17

Am I a bit thick, what does "There's no cis in team" actually mean?!
I think they are on the unicorn team so the translation is the
5th rule of misogyny: Women and Feminists must be useful to men or they are worthless.

It warms my heart to see a resurgence in Feminist public meetings. I was afraid for a while that the backlash had killed off what it had not appropriated.
I would hug you all if I could.

FairNotFair · 01/02/2020 22:24

It was such an inspiring day - so many iconic feminists under one roof!

nonsenceagain · 01/02/2020 22:55

Wonderful day. Feel invigorated and determined. Saw only one other blue ribbon Sad Where were you all?

TinselAngel · 01/02/2020 23:00

What a great day! Lovely to hear Maya name checking MN.
