Just seen this article in the local rag...

Interesting aside that 1/3 of the U.K. are in favour of kids self IDing.

I’m going to see if I can find any other info on the wider statistics and survey.

They need to ask if the public agree in castrating children, conducting double mastectomies, sterilising them, scarring them and putting them on harmful untested meds that will cause major health issues and pain throughout their lives.

How many would agree with that I wonder?

MIdgebabe · 12/12/2019 19:55

Well tbh, self Id for gender is fine.

I wish people would respect the fact that I don't gender identify as feminine rather than expecting me to behave and think in a certain way. I am quite happy if a male person wants to gender identify as feminine and make the tea, take the minutes and wear make up and dresses.

It's got sweet fa to do with sex or sexuality though just wish that was recognised

That survey was phrasedin a way to deliberately conceal from participants what self-ID entails and leads to. Compounded with a very deliberate strategy of silencing individuals and groups who try to speak publicly about it. But, don't worry, the dam is starting to leak; it will all flood out soon enough and be recognised as this decade's PIE scandal.

It would be weird if that were the case given that 80% don't agree with it full stop...

FTFOTFVille · 12/12/2019 20:17

Participants were asked how much they agreed with the statement "it is acceptable for adolescent children to make their own decisions about their gender identity"

HandsOffMyRights quite right, what about what that entails? Puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, chopping bits off, building fake bits...and here I fall into the trap of softening the truth by saying "bits". It isn't bits. It's surgically removing healthy genitals and breasts and adding sections of arm or thigh to create fake penises, or creating a false vagina that needs constant dilating as it is a wound that will forever try to heal...Dear God there is more but can't go there at the moment. Ask that of the participants, how 'bout?

My feeling is that it is perfectly acceptable for adolescent children to choose how they present, outwardly. A boy who wants to wear a dress should be able to. A girl should be able to wear whatever she wants and should feel comfortable doing that. But they are still biologically a boy, or a girl, and should use facilities for their born sex.
It is the people who mock or hurt these adolescents that are the problem.

Dress/present how you want. Just don't decide your genitals aren't yours. One is gender, the other is sex.

MrsKCastle · 12/12/2019 20:19

Useless question. Is it acceptable for children to make their own decisions about their gender identity? Yes. Gender identity is internal, subjective and largely irrelevant. Children should be able to define their own gender identity.

Should children make permanent physical changes to their bodies? Should they be allowed to access facilities and services restricted to the opposite sex? Should they be taught that they can change sex, or that biological sex is not real? Hell no. That would be ridiculous.
