There was a study a year or 2 ago which showed a link between hormonal contraception and MH problems, with teenage girls being much more adversely affected than older women.
With the new long term things that seem to be popular this is even more of an issue as you can't just stop taking if there are negative consequences.
Some adult women on here have reported serious impact on mood, and hcps said they wouldn't take it out as need to give it a chance / expensive etc. I think one had ended up cutting it out herself and other women had considered this.
Anyway there was that study, we know MH probs for girls are on the rise and self harm etc, they are the fastest growing group for suicide (although still much less than boys). And yet nothing happened from what I can see. I think for society it's really important that teen girls don't get pregnant and the personal cost to them is seen as secondary. A lot of people see teen girls as moody and difficult and over emotional anyway when in fact some of our could be caused by having their hormones interfered with.
This new study is interesting thank you. I hope they get to the bottom of this soon, the cost to massive numbers of women and girls over the years could be massive.
