Men Against Porn?

Just had a discussion with Dp about how he can best help the feminist cause (this was re something he’d published on FB) and one of the ideas that came up was to promote «Men Against Porn» groups. Except aside from one group in NZ, I can’t actually find any Men Against Porn groups. Anyone got any links they can share?

There is a subreddit devoted to men against porn usage, but unfortunately they don't seem to be against porn for the fact that it is an industry which abuses women. They are against it because they jerked off so much to that abuse that their dicks stopped working. I have little sympathy for such men.

How about Fight The New Drug? Their slogan is Porn Kills Love, they have several social media accounts.

I found that one already, thanks, @TheInebriati, but that’s the only site I’ve found about it. Surely there should be more? Or do men really not care about this?

In my experience? Yeah, men really do not care about this.

They are quick to excuse any abuse because, well, you are apparently justified in doing literally anything to another human being as long as they are poor/desperate enough to accept money for it.

There is the white ribbon campaign which seeks to end Male violence against women

He's an individual, not a group, but there's Robert Jensen:

I didn't know until I looked at the Wikipedia article, but he's had a run-in with the trans crowd, too.

Huh. I feel like Dp is a bit of an outlier here so.
Full disclosure : he was involved in porn very briefly in his twenties. He’s now in his fifties, so obviously that was a long time ago.
From what he’s told me, I’m really quite surprised that more men are not actively against it, but obviously there’s still a huge stigma for a man to be actively anti-porn.

Facebook had a group for women called "don't date men who do porn" (or similar). It had 25,000 members and Facebook banned it. Be interesting to see if a men's group is allowed. Confused

DH doesn’t do porn & on stag do’s won’t go into lap dancing clubs or the like. He finds it embarrassing & sad for all involved “they’re only doing it because they’re being paid too”

but he’s pretty much the only man I’ve ever known who’s felt this way so I agree with Lydiamajora - generally men don’t care about this

Not quite the same, but Michael Conroy has a great organisation talking to boys in school about toxic masculinity.

I'm a man.

I don't do porn - I consider it demeaning to women and I would quite happily see it banned.

I have never been to a stag do and certainly would not go to a lap dancing club.

I spent my working life with teenagers - mostly girls - encouraging them to develop as individuals and not to follow, for example, media stereotypes.

But I don't do groups, either. It would never have occurred to me to look for, let alone join, a group such as the one described above.

I suspect I am not alone in thinking this way. But it's difficult to see how one can be actively against it. I'm against allowing cars to park on pavements but there doesn't seem to be much I can personally do about it. So perhaps it's apathy, and perhaps that's a bad thing in itself, but like so many things, individuals with little or no influence on the government or media are powerless to make changes. The people who might be able to do so are probably the next generation - male teenage YouTubers making a positive statement against it would perhaps be more effective than anything current adults could achieve in terms of attitude.
