Why aren't you all over James Haskell?

BetterABird · 04/12/2019 23:06

The trans people who are ex offenders is such a small percentage, why not watch people like James Haskell and other 'alpha' males who are a real threat to feminism?

No offence to Chloe Medeley (who is intelligent and very articulate), I'm not a big reality show person but something caught my eye.

There are so many abusive men out there so why focus on the very few trans people who are?

OP posts:
Justhadathought · 05/12/2019 10:27

in the subtle and manipulative way that some men can be

Have you read the trans widow thread? Maybe you should if you want to see what 'subtle manipulation' looks like.

Justhadathought · 05/12/2019 10:30

But how many women are raped by the small number of trans people compared to the number of rugby buggers out there. They may not be in women's hostages but I'm sure there are loads

this isn't a numbers game...it is a matter of principle. Men are not women; males are not females......women do not want biological men in their intimate spaces uninvited. It is as a simple as that. Women have a right to feel safe and comfortable in their own spaces. That is why we have single sex spaces in the first place.

Justhadathought · 05/12/2019 10:33

So why would you need to be abusive to someone you know nothing about

Transgendersim has arisen out of the cult of the individual. This is not about individuals, however, it is about general principles. You don't make laws on the basis of individuals, but on the basis of groups and categories. It cannot function any other way.

Justhadathought · 05/12/2019 10:38

I had to google who James Gaskell is....he's a beefed up rugby player......
What has he said or done that is so controversial? Not aware......

Fieldofgreycorn · 05/12/2019 10:39

What do Richard and Judy think about this?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 05/12/2019 11:34

OP you have decided which males are a real threat to feminism. How clever of you. How did you work that out?

Because it's such a novelty when new posters rock up to tell this board we're feministing wrong. Literally never happens...

RuffleCrow · 05/12/2019 11:37

It's a Whaddaboudda thread! Biscuit

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 05/12/2019 11:38

So, OP, have you set up a campaign to do whatever it is that you think needs to be done about this man yet? You haven't, because you assumed that you could order other women to do it for you? Tut tut, etc.

Elbeagle · 05/12/2019 11:48

I think you are missing the obvious, which is that man in prison are more likely to say they are trans to get special treatment, not that transpeople are more likely to be sex offenders!

Wait, so men do lie about being trans to get preferential treatment? I thought the whole point about self ID is that if you say you are a woman, you are a woman?

IfNot · 05/12/2019 12:33

Yes of course men in prison are going to lie if they get preferential treatment! That's what I said!
And whoever asked "how can you tell the difference between transwomen and men lying to get into women's prisons", well, I'm sure prison staff aren't daft, and individually they know full well who is genuine and who isn't, but obviously men shouldn't be in women's prisons at all.
Which is NOT the same thing as saying
One of the reasons for the heightened concern is the higher incidence of sex crimes committed by "transwomen" compared to the male prison population.
That makes it sound very much like tw commit more sex crimes than men. Well, that isn't a reason for MY concern because I doubt it's true. I think what is much more likely is that claiming trans status in the prison system confers some priveledge on the inmate, and thats why there are more "tw" in the prison population.

OhioOhioOhio · 05/12/2019 12:41

What a bizarre thread.

Thelnebriati · 05/12/2019 12:55

Its certainly a new twist on 'you should be more nice'.

I hold this line;
Women's spaces and services are for women.
Sometimes they are for very specific groups of women, such as BAME women, or disabled women. You don't see the rest of us complaining about discrimination or trying to force our way in.

IfNot · 05/12/2019 13:00

Its certainly a new twist on 'you should be more nice'.
Is that to me?
Can you not read??
I give up.

Feminazgul · 05/12/2019 13:18

If a male says he is a woman, then he is a woman. End of. No debate.

To even consider they may be lying to gain advantage is transphobic and literal violence.

It never happens anyway so I dont know it keeps getting brought up.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 05/12/2019 13:19

Ah! I thank you, @Feminazgul, for reminding me of my naturally subordinate position in life!

theflushedzebra · 05/12/2019 13:24

. Grin You see what you wrote there?

He.

Feminazgul · 05/12/2019 13:31

Yes, he. As it's a thursday.

Mondays, Wednesday and Friday are female pronoun days.

Educate yourself, do better.

Datun · 05/12/2019 13:36

I think you are missing the obvious, which is that man in prison are more likely to say they are trans to get special treatment, not that transpeople are more likely to be sex offenders!

A transwoman is someone who says they have a female gender identity. That is it. It's about the words they say out loud. There is no diagnosis, no verification, no identification.

When there is no definition of being trans, you cannot possibly say people are pretending in order to access women.

DuMondeB · 05/12/2019 13:37

Never heard of these people! Are they off the telly?
I put our telly outside when they turned off the Granada analogue signal about 10 years ago.

Why don’t you start a proper thread about them with links/background and start the discussion off, OP?

TinselAngel · 05/12/2019 13:41

I've just spent 5 minutes of my life that I'll never get back, finding out who this person is, and I'm still bewildered why this thread exists.

StopThePlanet · 05/12/2019 16:06

Why is a low rent TV reality show that I've never watched in my life inciting dozens of threads on a feminist forum? If it's not Jenner, it's this idiot.

^This

I try to escape the world's obsession with reality TV and "famous people" by reading and interacting on FWR and other real environments. IDGAF what some third-rate celebrity or any celebrity says/does as they aren't in touch with reality due to living as a famous person.

I get it I get it some people like this reality TV stuff but FWR is not the place for discussing how mean some fabricated version of a famous person is portrayed. These celebrities aren't doing anything to help women or children with their vacuous scripted plots.

These threads are total facepalms.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 05/12/2019 17:39

I for one intend to remain ignorant of reality TV in general and anything to do with the Kardashians in particular. One might even say that I cherish my ignorance in this case. Why is OP demanding that I pay attention to shitty TV?

Bluerussian · 05/12/2019 17:50

I must say I know nothing about Kardashians and only discovered the James person a couple of days ago, a rugby player, and I know little about him but he seems OK.

LangCleg · 05/12/2019 18:00

FWR is not the place for discussing how mean some fabricated version of a famous person is portrayed

Well, quite. D list celebs spouting producer-led narratives while begging for votes. And we're supposed to take what's said seriously and discuss it?

And no, it's not cultural snobbery. Reality TV is the new religion and opiate of the people.

I'd rather ignore it (unless it's Strictly because nobody's perfect, even me, and I don't fucking post about it on feminist fora) thanks.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 05/12/2019 18:06

I feel like maybe we need to have a conversation about what a producer is, or for that matter what a script is.
