Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Why aren't you all over James Haskell?

The trans people who are ex offenders is such a small percentage, why not watch people like James Haskell and other 'alpha' males who are a real threat to feminism?

No offence to Chloe Medeley (who is intelligent and very articulate), I'm not a big reality show person but something caught my eye.

There are so many abusive men out there so why focus on the very few trans people who are?

JoGose · 04/12/2019 23:36

I dislike him too OP, think he was awful and misogynistic.

BetterABird · 04/12/2019 23:36

But I have always been able to manage to hold more than one opinion. Am I a genius?

So why would you need to be abusive to someone you know nothing about?

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 04/12/2019 23:36

What flavour of trans are you actually yapping about ?

Thelnebriati · 04/12/2019 23:37

When James is in women's prisons sexually assaulting women who are trapped with him, do get back to us.
In the meantime I'm sure you have some stellar ideas about how to dismantle the patriarchy, do feel free to share.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 04/12/2019 23:39

He used to play for the team I work for in my part time job. He was unfailingly pleasant, kind to fans (had lots of time for children in particular) and didn't display any of the overbearing behaviour we saw on IAC. Basically we're watching people under pressure in an alien environment, hungry and in unfamiliar situations. It's difficult to extrapolate from that how someone is generally. I'm sure for example Jacqueline Jossa is a cheerful down to earth girl generally, but she is coming across as quite precious in being reluctant to put herself forward for things - out of all the hours of filming, she is being edited that way. Ian Wright is by all accounts a decent guy but his grumpiness is coming across as his defining characteristic. I could go on, but the reality with these reality shows is viewed through the lens of the characters the production company wants us to see - if all of them were seen as similar personalities who all get on with no friction, it wouldn't make good telly.

birdsdestiny · 04/12/2019 23:39

Are you saying sarcasm is abuse? I am very confused.

don't fancy him
If I did, I would be all over him like a rash
And up him like a rat up a drainpipe
Etc

🤣
Wut? This thread, I'm in stitches. Thanks for the laugh though op.
And yes welcome to fwr.

theflushedzebra · 04/12/2019 23:42

These 'men' are more of a threat to women than any of the very small minority of nasty trans men can be.

Because there are some horrifically abusive men around, we should let another set of males who identify as women into women's safe spaces? Is that your argument?

birdsdestiny · 04/12/2019 23:46

He filmed someone having sex without their knowledge.
I think it's quite hard to hide who you are in those kind of shows. I think it showed parts of his character that might not be on show on meet and greets with fans.
The only one I have seen who has been able to put on an act for a reality show is jim Davidson.

RedDogsBeg · 04/12/2019 23:46

Sounds like it theflushedzebra, would like to see OP back it up but I won't hold my breath.

Women collateral damage as always and yet the ones advocating this think they are feminists and can't see the rank misogyny they spout.

theflushedzebra · 04/12/2019 23:47

He filmed someone having sex without their knowledge.

Isn't that a criminal offence?

Mandatorymongoose · 04/12/2019 23:56

This morning I was quite concerned because I got halfway to work and realised I'd forgotten to take my medication before I left the house (and because of the erosion of womens rights in this country including by certain activist groups, the patriarchal culture around the world that causes countless women and female children to die, be abused and treated as less than etc etc).

This evening I'm a bit annoyed, partially with myself, because I'm supposed to be on a pre-Christmas diet but I actually ate a whole tub of Waldorf salad just because it's delicious (but also because of the erosion of womens rights in this country, including by certain activist groups, the patriarchal culture around the world that causes countless women and female children to die, be abused and treated as less than etc etc).

It's not really an either / or sort of situation. Lots of people manage to be cunts.

AutumnRose1 · 04/12/2019 23:59

OP it’s a very big world

It would be really helpful if you actually told us what the problem is. Google tells me who he is but not the issue with feminism.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 05/12/2019 00:04

Yes he may be able to put on an act at meet and greets. But at work, day to day, with colleagues? He's not a celebrity to them, he's one of them, and none of my colleagues have a bad word to say about him.

birdsdestiny · 05/12/2019 00:08

I dont think the campmates would have a bad word to say. Except maybe kate. I think the penny dropped with her. He was very skilfull in that way.

BetterABird · 05/12/2019 00:09

But how many women are raped by the small number of trans people compared to the number of rugby buggers out there. They may not be in women's hostages but I'm sure there are loads.

OP posts:
Ereshkigal · 05/12/2019 00:12

Yes, lots of different men rape, don't they? All sorts of men. No argument here.

birdsdestiny · 05/12/2019 00:14

Why would some of those rugger buggers not be trans?
Are you saying because there are some bad men we should let men into womens single sex spaces because...... I am not following.

Thelnebriati · 05/12/2019 00:15

I don't think you have much experience, or have thought this through.

People who are biological men can access women only spaces and services if they identify as women. And any man can now self ID as a woman. Even a convicted rapist. and we cannot challenge him for fear of being labelled a bigot.

So, explain how to keep the convicted rapists and men who are pretending to be trans out of women's prisons.

Women want and need single sex spaces, we have the right to them, and they are not yours to give away.

Spacebowlisback · 05/12/2019 00:21

I think the answer is in your own misgendering in your post.

We’re not fighting against “the few”. We’re fighting against the dismantling of the fundamental language and rights that define our sex.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 05/12/2019 00:24

BE MY PRIVATE ARMY!

That's what feminism is, right? Where you walk up to a bunch of women, go "why haven't you done this thing that I think you should be doing yet?", and then walk off feeling very proud of yourself?

IfNot · 05/12/2019 00:36

I wanna hear more about what AF wants to do to him. Please and thank you.

Creepster · 05/12/2019 01:21

How many women need to be raped tortured and abused by transwomen before you think discussing it on FWR is appropriate, OP?

One of the reasons for the heightened concern is the higher incidence of sex crimes committed by "transwomen" compared to the male prison population.
This despite the fact that "transwomen" offend at the same rate as the general male population.

FoundWonderland · 05/12/2019 02:33

But how many women are raped by the small number of trans people compared to the number of rugby buggers out there. They may not be in women's hostages but I'm sure there are loads.

I am VERY uncomfortable with this sentiment, OP. We can be concerned about trans women who commit male violence and still be concerned by the inherent rape culture perpetuated within male sports. Feminists can concern themselves with both issues, and believe me, we do.
