Hi all.
I fell into this last year. I shared a post on Facebook last night regarding trans women alleged assault in prison. I've received the following response.
"so take the case of a trans woman who is either waiting for reassignment surgery or doesn't want it at this point, as many don't for a variety of reasons. If she doesn't belong in women's spaces, where would you say she does belong?"

Personally I would suggest that trans campaign for a space, as women did and still do!
Is there anything set in law yet about this in between stage? So I can give the correct response.

Where does ‘she’ belong? In a mans prison! Because we separate prisoners according to sex, for women’s safety. No man should be in a male prison no matter how he identifies. I agree some trans women who have had surgery and appear female will be at a higher risk in jail, but so are sex offenders and gay men- should they be moved to women’s prisons for their safety too? Trans prisoners should get the same treatment as anyone else at a higher risk- a separate wing in a men’s prison where they can be protected- not a women’s prison. You can give the example of Karen White, a male who was moved to a women’s prison and sexually assaulted women so was moved back.

Plus, if men in prison know they can be moved to a woman’s prison if they say they’re female, what’s to stop them all doing it? We need safeguards in place, like biological females only.

Just ask them where they think this prisoner belongs and send them a pic of Stephen/Karen White.

In fact send the 'This never happens' Facebook page and ask if, based on these examples, if it's possible that transwomen don't all just want to pee when they use the ladies loos and shift it away from prisons and into an antes where their mother/sister/daughter/niece might be directly impacted in day to day life.
