In my opinion he didn't cover himself in glory on the issue of women's rights. His answer on prisons showed where his priorities lie. Did I misinterpret him?

Mine too. I was really careful not to mention self-ID. I said that I was sitting behind Layla Moran when she announced that she could see souls & asked how the LibDems intended to make use of her talent if they won the election.

Surely you'd have to be a complete idiot to agree to do a Mumsnet webchat and not be prepared to have a detailed discussion with a lot of women who were both angry and worried about self-ID and gender ideology.

Well, they’re in a corner, aren’t they. Show up on Mumsnet and they know the questions about self ID, gender and women’s and children’s safety will be relentless and unsympathetic. Don’t show up, and any whining about the media denying them a platform looks a bit hollow.

I could almost feel sorry for them if they weren't blindly pushing harmful beliefs rooted in sexism that can lead to the weakening of safeguarding for children and vulnerable people

last night I met someone for the first time in person who actually said 'transwomen are women'. it shocked the life out of me. it sounds so ludicrous said out loud. unfortunately that person was my local lib dem PPC

The webchat reminded me of the above quote on another thread on Nicola Sturgeon by an MNer. Why oh why don't women know their place anymore and just get under the bus quietly!!!

Philip Lee used to be a Conservative MP with responsibility for prisons, including female offenders. He will be very aware of the Karen White case. I don’t believe he buys the Lib Dem line on this at all, but will have to stick to it to remain a member and campaign fruitlessly against the inevitability of Brexit.
