Richard Herrings podcasts are quite knock about and cover lots of topics with a lot of colourful language and some Rude discussion - Grayson Perry was a guest on a podcast released last week - entertaining and interesting comments - described himself as a transvestite and a bit of a pervert - he was really clear about the extreme and slightly offensive way that he and other ‘transvestites’ represent womanhood as a parody - he also made the quite funny point that many women dress in trainers jeans and sweat tops - and when he used to go to hotel events - with 100 men dressed as women - and someone wore trousers rather skirts and dresses - they would all exclaim ‘wow that is extreme cross dressing’ he also talked about his troubled child hood where his bear became a God Substitute - interesting comments about belief is just an accumulation of emotion - and the polarisation of society - Worth a listen

Grayson Perry is an eccentric in a grand British tradition, but he is self aware and has a great deal of insight.

I do get the feeling that a lot of his art is some sort of therapy.

We see people arguing that women wearing jeans are cross dressing so that one's a bit close to the bone for me to be able to laugh at it.

I’ve not heard anyone accuse women of cross dressing when wearing Jeans - Grayson Perry certainly wasn’t making that point - he was acknowledging the caracature that he represents when dressed as a woman - and that he and other transvestites need gender stereotypes for them to cross dress against

I'll give it a listen but I still haven't forgiven Grayson Perry for his Who Are You? series which included an episode about a trans identifying young woman. I still vividly remember the mother trying to hold back her tears as her daughter described how she was planning her double mastectomy and phalloplasty. Grayson thought this was all brilliant and was almost scolding her poor mother for getting upset and not being supportive enough. I hadn't ever thought critically about any of this trans stuff before and that TV program was what made me start to question it all.
