To a daily express, daily mail reader or worst a neo nazi ConfusedShock. I’ve not come out very often, but have had quite a few glasses! Highly educated group. Most got it, one didn’t and now thinks I am an awful person Blush

OP posts:
Furrybootsyecomfy · 30/11/2019 00:29

I loathe people chucking the word nazi around- it just shows them to be a twat.

Were these people men or women, OP?

JanesKettle · 30/11/2019 00:32

No-one who lightly tosses around the accusation 'Nazism' is intelligent.

If it makes you feel any better, a person once concluded from my gc thoughts that I was 'raising children on hatred at my knee, so that they could go out and bash gay children'. Two of my kids are bi/gay.

People don't know what they are talking about. Also known as talking out of their arses.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 30/11/2019 00:33

Ask them where the death camps are located. What, there aren't any? Because that accusation is absurd? Maybe they shouldn't have made it, then.

Inebriati · 30/11/2019 00:38

Welcome to the year 2019, where the group who don't want to sterilize gay kids are the ones being called Nazi's.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 30/11/2019 07:57

In my day the insult de jour was ‘fascist’...

zanahoria · 30/11/2019 08:06

I remember in the 80s, Rik from The Young Ones used to call evrryone a Fascist they were mocking a certain sort of student but now it has become mainstream without the irony. It is just a way of closing down debate - now that does seems ironic, who else does that?

NotTerfNorCis · 30/11/2019 08:12

MRAs have always called feminists Nazis ('feminazis'). Now TRAs are following suit. When someone gets called a Nazi it really means authoritarian thinking, and with MRAs/TRAs that is projection.

Grimbles · 30/11/2019 08:46

I prefer feminazgûl. Has a more menacing air and is more attuned to pop culture Wink

Michelleoftheresistance · 30/11/2019 10:24

Infuriates me when a privileged, spoiled generation throw around the word 'Nazi'.

Anyone smashing doors in in the middle of the night and dragging your family away to death camps? Gunning parents down on the front lawn in front of their kids before giving the kids to families of acceptable genetics and politics? Throwing your kids live into fires? Making people dig their own graves, undress and line up to be shot?
Making people process their own friends and relatives at death camps?

The absolute horrors of Naziism are damn nearly too bad to talk about, and millions of people had their lives destroyed by it. It's not something to be hyperbolically slung about as if they're the same as someone who's jarred your political belief system a bit. Angry It's the utmost in disrespect and selfishness.

Sorry. This makes me absolutely rage.

Michelleoftheresistance · 30/11/2019 10:37

I did have a point. Honest.

OP, don't lose sleep over it. If they're grabbing for the dogwhistle hyperbole like that, they haven't considered the issue in any depth, they're just recycling received information.

If you have the energy challenge it. A view that simple won't stand up to logic or examples and it would be easy for you to point out the holes in it if you wanted to. But don't let it upset you.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 30/11/2019 10:47

Hugs. It is of course rubbish.

HandsOffMyRights · 30/11/2019 10:56

Exactly Michelle it shows zero understanding and is grossly offensive to all those lives that were ripped apart because of that regime.

It seems like five mins ago when the Glib Dems were also suggesting mouthy women be put in the gulag.

Naziism/war is a current theme among some extremists.
Punching feminists and Nazis, releasing mustard gas on women at Pride and Alex Sharpe's infamous Spitfire tweet are among the choice cuts. Though Alex really is old enough to know better.

theflushedzebra · 30/11/2019 11:14

If they started slinging the word nazi around, they lost the argument.

Just quote Godwin back at them.

BlackForestCake · 30/11/2019 11:44

There is a political purpose to calling people Nazis. It is not just an offensive comparison. If feminists are the same as Nazis, it is OK to no-platform them, break up their meetings and assault them. That is why it is so sinister.

ScienceIsReal · 30/11/2019 11:47

I think if anyone is going to be compared to nazi's, it isn't biological women fighting for their rights and safety. ..
The entire thing is anti-science/reality and very sexist.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 30/11/2019 13:50

I completely agree.

slipperywhensparticus · 30/11/2019 14:03

Aww I was told I looked like I was pushing 40 and a barren bitch I'm 44 with three children that was on Facebook where they can see my bio where it says I'm a mum of three 🤦‍♀️

billydilly · 30/11/2019 14:42

Sympathies OP. My own daughter says that I'm 'basically Donald Trump' because of my GC views.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 30/11/2019 15:25

The young seem so foolish and ignorant these days. Were we ever so young and foolish?

BickerinBrattle · 30/11/2019 16:01

Yes, we were. The difference is, we didn’t have pharmaceutical companies giving us 45 million dollars.

drspouse · 30/11/2019 16:06

Don't worry, the judge in Maya Forstater's case told her ex employer's barrister that "asking her if she's comfortable being on the same side as the DM isn't going to get us very far".

Michelleoftheresistance · 30/11/2019 16:19

How right he was. That being very polite judgese for 'don't be so damn silly'.

ScienceIsReal · 30/11/2019 16:33

Hitler had horrible and unfounded ideas about Jewish people. Some have horribly sexist and unfounded ideas on what it means to be a woman. Anyone who using using Nazi comparisons needs to be reminded that GC women aren't the ones forcing unscientific ideology on the world, nor are we celebrating deaths. We are not forbidding discussion, mindless acceptance only or you're a bigot. We are not the ones who believe you've got to fulfil certain criteria's in order to unlock your inherent biology, or that it can change. We are not the ones making up false statistics and claims to verify ideology. We are not the ones creating posts about standing up in the women's bathroom with the door open to show dominance. We are not the ones making threats. I'm pretty sure a fair few activists would happily campaign for all books about male and female biology to be burned. We are not the ones forcing offensive labels on other people (c*s). We are not the ones who are denying human anatomy and biology, something very well established. We are not the ones who believe sexist stereotypes mean there is something wrong with you/born in the wrong body if you don't comply with them. We are not the ones giving hatred to those de-transitioning.

I don't agree with using Nazi analogies, however, if you are going to use them at least use them with some intelligence and thought applied to the matter.

WhereYouLeftIt · 30/11/2019 16:33

"Most got it, one didn’t and now thinks I am an awful person Blush"
I see that as very positive. Most got it. And the one who didn't is just that - one. One within a group who all get it.

Really, if they now think you're awful, why give a stuff about their opinion? Plus, if they think you're awful is that because they fundamentally disagree with you, or because they see someone 'breaking ranks' and now they realise they haven't thought their position through? Some people really hate admitting they've got something wrong, and like to lay the blame elsewhere (a variation of 'shoot the messenger').
