I am not suggesting at all that this is a typical motive, but if the dominant cultural environment in schools and online rigidly reinforces gender stereotypes and suggests to anyone who doesn’t conform that they are in the wrong body? The effect might be similar. Irrespective of the source, this is worth reading. But it is interesting which media sources declined to report this.
