maya Forstater has linked to her witness statement via twitter and I found it very interesting.

Crikey!

Long read, very clear and I can't see how any of it can be refuted.

So tell me again why she had to write it?

Qcng · 25/11/2019 21:57

Wow. I'm only at point 25.
Incredible writing.

A lot more to go through, and I need to get on with stuff, but thanks so much for sharing.

It basically summarizes so far, every gender critical point, every answer in response to "but what about... (eg intersex)..." and looks to be really resourceful.

I can't thank Maya enough. All she's going through.

Qcng · 25/11/2019 22:03

Curious
She's taking her former employers to a tribunal bc she was working on a project for a "think tank".
After she expressed gender critical views on Twitter, in her own personal name, her contract was not renewed, despite having 2 years of further work already planned and organised with the think tank.

Maya is contesting her dismissal on the protected category of believe.

midcenturylegs · 25/11/2019 22:35

Wow.. just wow.
I'm thinking of printing this out for when I (and I know it's a when and not if) get called out on this at work.

FilthyBiscuit · 25/11/2019 22:47

Bravo Maya, what a brilliant piece. I'm only half way through as it's a long read and want to cheer and cry in equal measure. How can anyone disagree with this? Again, I will say it though, how have we got to this??

ForeverFaithless · 25/11/2019 22:56

Just Wow!! She is brilliant.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 25/11/2019 23:09

Fabulous!

Bluerussian · 25/11/2019 23:41

That is just so good.

Lamahaha · 26/11/2019 07:07

So absolutely clear. How could any sane person refute this?

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 26/11/2019 08:22

And she's argued that the genderists' beliefs deserve protection as well - though shouldn't be imposed on other people - which is very fair of her

SisterWendyBuckett · 26/11/2019 09:09

Thank you Maya.

TeenPlusTwenties · 26/11/2019 11:48

Hard to see how you could argue with that.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 26/11/2019 12:19

Thanks @Qcng -but that really was a rhetorical question Smile

Qcng · 26/11/2019 13:48

Ah, sure, well, might help lurkers!

MForstater · 26/11/2019 16:59

Thanks! I hope the judge sees it that way !

thirdfiddle · 26/11/2019 17:16

It's a joy to read such a well set out argument.Thank you for sharing Maya.

ScapaFlo · 26/11/2019 17:23

Any idea when you might hear?

iguanadonna · 26/11/2019 19:34

This is dynamite. A gender critical manifesto.

MForstater · 26/11/2019 20:44

Probably in January

WineGummyBear · 26/11/2019 21:02

I'm blown away by the lucidity of Maya's thinking. Her ability to express herself in this style both measured and compelling.

What an amazing resource.

WineGummyBear · 26/11/2019 21:03

Just seen you are among us.

Thank you Maya. For your integrity and your courage. You have inspired me so much.

cordeliavorkosigan · 27/11/2019 06:16

It is really worth reading all the way to the end. The part about tolerance and not forcing others to pretend they agree with a belief is brilliant and beautifully written. Thank you Maya

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 27/11/2019 07:14

That's incredible, very articulate.

MockersFactCheckMN · 27/11/2019 07:55

Another vote for Wow

Looks like someone picked a fight with the wrong woman, there.

UndergroundOverIt · 27/11/2019 12:13

Maya, thank you for setting out the gender critical perspective in such a clear, rational and above all respectful way. Respectful towards both sides of this divide, as well as being fecking irrefutable.

Have shared it with approximately 457 of my closest friends Smile

What strikes me more and more lately is why the statement 'trans women are women' isn't in itself viewed as inherently transphobic. That surely denies the existence of transwomen more than any gender critical statement ever could?
