Chatted to my Labour MP today - turns out he strongly believes in single-sex spaces and that people can't change sex.

Good to hear after some of the latest stories going around recently.

I'm sure a lot of prospective Labour MPs know what a woman is. Just as I'm sure a lot knew in the last Parliament. The trouble is they kept it to themselves so the only voices we heard were the likes of Dawn Butler.

They have women only lists and women positions which are inhabited by not-women. That’s coming from the top.

DeeZastris · 24/11/2019 09:58

Is he willing to say this in an official capacity or does he keep this very, very quiet.

TeaAndStrumpets · 24/11/2019 10:00

The realists will keep their opinions to themselves, because they fear others in the party. I won't vote for such cowards.

Needs to have a word with Rayner. On Marr just now, she burbled something almost incomprehensible about gender identity not being a lifestyle choice.

Joisanofthedales · 24/11/2019 10:04

mockers I heard her too. She didn't answer the question about self id and burbled on about children and how it's not a life style choice and basically everyone stop being mean about trans people

MockersFactCheckMN · 24/11/2019 10:08

...and then JoJo who's clearly been briefed, going on about all the women in refuges who've been duffed up by other women.

Fandoozle1 · 24/11/2019 11:40

I had the Labour canvasser at my door today. I wasn’t going to answer it as I didn’t feel I could properly articulate my concerns about women’s spaces/ all women’s shortlists etc but I bit the bullet and opened the door.
I talked to him about the erosion of women’s spaces and about LM (all women’s shortlists), he was completely unaware of the issues and wrote down what I had said to show to our labour MP. (Mp was also in the area but not on our road).

Did you ask him if he was sufficiently committed to break the whip in order to defend them if elected?

Cos if not, he can believe what he likes - it's no use to women.

I suspect that there are people with brains is every one of the parties who know that human beings cannot change sex. The problem is that they also seem to want to put their political careers ahead of women's safety and so I have zero respect for them unless they stand up and tell the truth.
