Is all the correcting of forms working? NHS flu vax forms uses SEX not gender!

Interesting... opened up DDs flu vax letter from school and the NHS form had SEX, not gender, written on it. Is this is a first? Is all the endless correcting of forms finally paying off? Is the tide turning? Am I getting carried away?!

Sounds like progress!

koshkat · 19/11/2019 18:01

YES!

JoeGargery · 19/11/2019 18:04

Ours said ‘gender’ and I crossed it out.

JellySlice · 19/11/2019 18:06

More likely that it's from an old batch that is being used up.

slipperywhensparticus · 19/11/2019 18:07

Mine said gender 🙄

stillathing · 19/11/2019 18:10

Mine said gender and I corrected it.

Mind you a friend (hello Clare) sent me this link that shows that biological sex is critically important in vaccination. So not surprising the NHS insist on sex being recorded

@JellySlice it's definitely new. Last year's form had 'gender' on it. I correct all the forms and I remember last year it said 'gender'

Mine said gender. I corrected it.

IWantADifferentName · 20/11/2019 00:39

Sunkisses, I would count that as a win!

ChattyLion · 20/11/2019 00:57

Glitterball i always cross out ‘gender’ and replace with ‘sex’ on forms, that’s a real result if they’ve since changed it nationally back to ‘sex’. Congratulations to whoever decided to revert back to facts-based healthcare provision and record keeping in the interests of children.

TheShoesa · 20/11/2019 06:16

Our form said Gender Boy/Girl which I crossed out and replaced with Sex Male/Female

I also emailed the Trust who were responsible for the form and got a reply to say it would be looked into. Heard nothing since, of course, but seeing as it's a busy time of year for the vaccination team I'm leaving the chasing until January

PenguindreamsofDraco · 20/11/2019 06:33

Ours said gender (again) so I crossed it out (again), SE London here.

PurpleHoodie · 20/11/2019 06:59

I do this on all paper forms.

On electronic forms, I'll tick Female/Male and in 'comments boxes' type "Sex, not gender".

RHTawneyonabus · 20/11/2019 07:00

My DSs forms did too! I think for some vaccinations it’s important to know the biological sex of the person you are injecting. Gender not being an adequate substitute in this regard.

JellySlice · 20/11/2019 07:22

Sunkisses - good!

However, this idiocy still has traction:

plus, of course, the NHS's 'single gender wards' mixed-sex in-patient policy.
