John Broadhurst, killer of Natalie Connolly, fails to reduce his short sentence further

Some relief, but how appalling that he even tried

As a reminder, he received 3 years 8 months for manslaughter after she died with terrible injuries at their home. He stepped over her body in the morning, breakfasted, washed the car, and only then called emergency services, to say she was "dead as a donut".

He told the court her injuries were largely from "rough sex"

Jesus, I despair.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 14/11/2019 17:38

He fucking appealed?

Uncompromisingwoman · 14/11/2019 17:39

Vile man and a disgraceful sentence.

CeridwenTheWitch · 14/11/2019 17:40

Why did he only get 3 years? Why was he not convicted of murder? I can't get my head around these men murdering women and getting away with it.

WomanDaresTo · 14/11/2019 17:48

He fucking appealed

OP posts:
ChattyLion · 14/11/2019 17:50

Shame on him.

Melroses · 14/11/2019 17:51

Shame they can't add a few on Angry

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 14/11/2019 18:01

The thing is though, this guy is pretty obviously a danger to society.

Even if, even if she did want to get punched in the face, thrown down the stairs and a trigger spray bottle of carpet cleaner inserted into her vagina, this man is obviously incapable of doing things a woman wants without her frigging dying. So what about when he is out of prison and he meets the next woman who 'likes it rough'? (I mean it's pretty obvious that Natalie Connolly did not consent to those things, given the levels of alcohol and cocaine in her system, but I think that goes without saying).

And he rang the ambulance saying she was 'dead as a donut'.

And now he has appealed.

He is a total danger. Is it because he is wealthy and not bad looking that it seems to be being totally overlooked that this bloke comes across as a complete psychopath?

CodenameVillanelle · 14/11/2019 18:03

This is the man who ripped up his partner's vagina with a plastic spray bottle so badly that she bled to death right?
Fuck him. Fuck him to hell. I hope he gets tortured in prison.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 14/11/2019 18:06

This is the man who ripped up his partner's vagina with a plastic spray bottle so badly that she bled to death right?

Yep that's the one.

I mean, that's what all women want during sex isn't it? Hmm

VickyEadieofThigh · 14/11/2019 18:14

I'm still enraged that he only got that paltry sentence.

FrothyDragon · 14/11/2019 18:17

He appealed and it's still peddled that women want this.

The fucking memes about women "wanting" to be choked during sex that I see... I honestly despair. And when you call it out, you get treated as if you're policing women's sexuality. Or you have none of your own. Fucking gaslighting women into accepting violence against them as a "kink"

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 14/11/2019 18:18

So you get a heavier sentence for a much lesser crime. How is this all calculated? Her poor family.

HopeClearwater · 14/11/2019 18:22

Isn’t he from a pretty scary family too?

I see the accused in the backpacker murder in Australia, who chopped his victim up and attempted to put her body in a suitcase, is also going for the ‘died during consensual rough sex’ defence. Sickening.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 14/11/2019 18:27

And when you call it out, you get treated as if you're policing women's sexuality. Or you have none of your own.

This. Its all 'how dare you tell women what they like and don't like, how dare you kink shame, how dare you be so hetero normative (that one was on a thread the other day) just because you are vanilla doesn't give you the right to say that men can't choke women, beat women up, rape them with a bottle of carpet cleaner'.

HopeClearwater · 14/11/2019 18:30

Sorry, New Zealand, not Australia.

WomanBornNotWorn · 14/11/2019 18:40

I'm reading that women are leaving sealed letters with their solicitors to keep with their wills saying along these lines - ' I never consented to rough sex - if I die in those circumstances and he claims it was rough sex gone wrong, I was murdered.'

powershowerforanhour · 14/11/2019 18:56

He stepped over her body in the morning, breakfasted, washed the car, and only then called emergency services, to say she was "dead as a donut".

He will murder again, and the blood of his next victim will also be on the hands of those who chose to believe his ridiculous, cynical, insulting defence.

CoolCarrie · 14/11/2019 19:24

How fucking dare he appeal, bastard. My heart goes out to Natalie ‘s family, what an.injustice to their daughter I am sickened by his sentence and by Alfie Lamb sentence. What a terrible day for the innocents.

CeridwenTheWitch · 14/11/2019 19:31

I'm reading that women are leaving sealed letters with their solicitors to keep with their wills saying along these lines - ' I never consented to rough sex - if I die in those circumstances and he claims it was rough sex gone wrong, I was murdered.'

This is really sad, but also probably a good idea. I don't date anymore, because I honestly fear becoming a statistic with the way a lot of men are today. Sometimes I wonder if in future most women will be single by choice, or whether groups of women will live together to raise families.

It's frightening how dangerous it is to be a heterosexual woman in today's society.

placemats · 14/11/2019 19:54

No doubt he'll be out soon and getting onto dating swipe sites. What's not to like? Eh?

Violent man who is a sociopath.

placemats · 14/11/2019 19:55

He will only be dating young vulnerable women.

FrothyDragon · 14/11/2019 20:53

But he got away with it (Yes, I consider 3 y 8 mo getting away with it) because she wasn't able to argue otherwise, because the experiences of women mean nothing, because the lives of women mean nothing. We're ignored when we report rape. We're gaslighted and victim blamed when we report domestic violence, and this is just the newest way to blame the victim, and the media and courts are lapping it up.

They're legalising women being murdered by men, because they buy the men's pitiful excuses.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 14/11/2019 22:31

He will murder again, and the blood of his next victim will also be on the hands of those who chose to believe his ridiculous, cynical, insulting defence.

This.

DuMondeB · 14/11/2019 22:42

I just don’t get this sentence. Even if you believe the bullshit about consent, the callousness of leaving her there to die is just beyond comprehension.

If your sex partner is injured you get them to a hospital! Or at the very least, help them off the floor and put them to bed.
