Sorry to link to the DM but they've covered Maya Forstater's upcoming court case here:
https://mol.im/a/7683207.

Maya's account of events is here and her post links to updates about the case: https://medium.com/@MForstater/i-lost-my-job-for-speaking-up-about-womens-rights-2af2186ae84

FFS reading that Twitter thread it's like the Spanish fucking Inquisition. What the fuck has happened to this country that one woman has to defend her views of biological reality? Aliens please take me I want to get off this planet.

OvaHere · 15/11/2019 14:36

This account has further updates

Sunkisses, thank you so much for reporting this. As you say, it is absolutely chilling that Maya has been sacked for this. I wish her the best of luck but it’s a grim indictment of the current status quo that she is in court at all.

OvaHere · 15/11/2019 14:44

Does anyone know if any journalists are there?

BarbaraStrozzi · 15/11/2019 14:48

Brava the woman doing the live-tweeting (and, as PP said, so telling of what's at issue that she had to leave to do the school run).

Well done Maya - you're doing a fabulous job.

#IstandwithMaya Employer's solicitor just asked 'How comfortable are you bring on the same side as the Daily Mail?'
Judge 'Not sure that is going to help us'.

HandsOffMyRights · 15/11/2019 15:08

God, they really are desperate. This feigned moral superiority when the defence were the ones that had the audacity/stupidity to compare scientific reality to Bible stories.

Thankfully the judge can see through it by the tweets we've seen.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 15/11/2019 15:12

Comparing belief in scientific reality to belief in the Old Testament is a bit daft if you are trying to say the former doesn’t amount to a ‘belief’.

jay55 · 15/11/2019 15:16

It does sound like the judge is enjoying it.
Maya is incredibly impressive and really has prepared herself brilliantly.

CeridwenTheWitch · 15/11/2019 15:18

It's so surreal she is having to defend a normal, biological fact in a court. I keep thinking of that tyrannical court in Star Trek, the one where Q wears a red outfit like they wore in Italian courts in the past, and finds the Star Trek crew guilty of some non-crime.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 15/11/2019 15:21

I hope she has the best legal advice money can buy!!
Good luck Maya

Datun · 15/11/2019 15:22

Isn't the Daily Mail the most widely read paper in the country? What is wrong with them?

Maya must be thanking her lucky stars that she doesn't have to work with such dimwits any longer.

Heavens above, is this how far this country's legal minds have fallen?

But I suppose it's yet another sign that there simply is no genderist position that stands up to any scrutiny.

KatieAlcock · 15/11/2019 15:28

Very interested to follow along, speaking of holes to fill, look at MEEEEEE.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 15/11/2019 15:31

#IstandwithMaya Employer's lawyer just referred to gender identity as a protected characteristic under the GRA. @MForstater* quietly put her right. Employer's lawyer seems to have a permanent blush. Her arguments are truly terrible.

Waterl00 · 15/11/2019 15:33

Oh cripes, that Object twitter account led me to more on this from Jo Maugham

He's basically saying that women will just have to work with difficulty and get used to it over time, it's what society wants - for women to submit to men on this, so just get used to it.

twitter.com/JolyonMaugham/status/1195047288110010368

He is really grim.

Puke.

HandsOffMyRights · 15/11/2019 15:34

Amanda Glassman, the chief executive officer of CGD Europe and executive vice president of CGD, told Personnel Today that the charity prided itself as a workplace that supported and advanced diversity, equity, and inclusion in both policy and practice. She said: “We dispute the claimant’s allegations and look forward to making our case in the Employment Tribunal as the proceedings get under way.”
Amanda, it's shame you should have, not pride at excluding women. I hope that you are still looking forward to throwing women under the bus.

GeordieTerf · 15/11/2019 15:37

I think that the judge must be a Mumsnetter! Grin

BarbaraStrozzi · 15/11/2019 15:38

So not wanting to be sexually assaulted in a women's toilet by the Karen Whites of this world is merely a social norm aimed at behaviour we find undesirable rather than a criminal matter aimed at behaviour we find intolerable?

Thanks for mansplaining what my attitude should be towards sexual predators with penises, Jolyon.

(Insert expletive here - one which would lead to a deletion were I to type it out).

Kit19 · 15/11/2019 15:40

Oh yes I saw the QC had been hard at work patronising women on twitter again 🙄 apparently we’re all very mean and over reacting again

OvaHere · 15/11/2019 15:46

Don't worry Barbara if something untoward were to occur you could just tut loudly.

Yes this was actual advise from the oh so gracious QC.

OvaHere · 15/11/2019 15:46

*advice

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/11/2019 15:49

Object twitter account led me to more on this from Jo Maugham

He also said that if a man is behaving poorly [in a women's changing room] then the woman should tut loudly and move away....

ThePurported · 15/11/2019 15:49

#IstandwithMaya Employer's solicitor just asked 'How comfortable are you bring on the same side as the Daily Mail?'

Seriously??
Is that what passes for a legal argument these days?
Is Maya's former employer comfortable being on the side of the Jonathan Yanivs of this world?

littlbrowndog · 15/11/2019 15:50

He did say that. Just tut loudly.

Where the heck does that dude think that tutting loudly is a response.

Tut tut 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
